GFF is a hellhole full of elitists who chat about everything EXCEPT games. We have a team of dedicated moderators who will ban your ass on the slightest provocation, constant member-organized activities that you are not allowed to participate in, and plenty of custom features, including our unique journal system where you can post entries that will be completely ignored. If this is your first visit, be sure to check out the FAQ or our GFWiki. You will have to register before you can post. Although membership is completely free (and gets rid of the pesky advertisement unit underneath this message) we do not recommend that you sign up, because you will get kicked in the nuts repeatedly.

Video Game Music Quiz
http://vgmq.garoux.net/
For people not familiar with VGMQ from the pre-crash GFF, here's the capsule summary:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Big update today (finally), 24 new tracks by my count. Ordinarily I'd post after I'd listened to the tracks, but I'm currently in the middle of listening to a radio show. Besides, it's been forever since the last update so we gotta get the word out as soon as possible and so forth. |
|
This new batch made me cry. Most of the songs are 4 points or less, and I only got 4 of them. Other than that, most of the songs were pretty awesome.
We can all agree that #175 is the best song on the entire list, though. |
|
Hmm, did pretty well in this batch. Got #161, #163, #164, #170, #172, #178, and #183.
The only one that sounds familiar that I didn't get is #179; I know I've heard that riff before, but the rest of the track is unfamiliar. |
|
Wow, #170 sounds almost exactly like a song that I wrote. I dont' recognize the tune, but my heart skipped a beat when the kalimba came in.
I don't know if I'm the only one, but I'm submitting a lot of votes for songs I don't know, just to get the names of the soundtracks. Upon reviewing my answers, I guessed Toaplan games for two Techno Soft ones. I got the composer right on #170, but the game wrong (it wasn't me ).Also, #175 is great. I've never heard the music to that game, but I'll have to check it out. |
I suck at this game...I'm accurate but I don't know much.
I got 167, 168, 172, 173 and 180. What's the hardest (based on points) song you've gotten correct? My high score is 6 on 3 songs (92, 103, 139). I wonder if they're picking any recent music (last 5 or so years)...the most recent music I've gotten right was from the mid-90s. ![]() Bring back Gamingforce RGB Chain Week! |
0183, 0181, 0179, 0167, 0164 and 0161 this time. 173 also sounds very familiar (and very good) to me, so maybe I can search for it. Anyway, the 181 is going to give me some good points (6), so I hope to go up some positions ^^
Hey, thanks for letting me know GFF was back, darkcomet.
![]() I did surprisingly well this time. I knew #161, 164, 166, 170, 172, 175, 179, 182, and 183. That's 23 points. I've heard 167 before, but I can't place it. I'd say 182 is the best song in this batch. |
Oh, and I also got #014. That song's been bugging me since the beginning. And I was looking at the member list, and was wondering how Toma and ikkei had such a high attempt percentage (with a low correct percentage to boot). Now I know ![]() |
I only got a half-dozen. I'm 99% positive that I know the game series of this seventh track, but I don't know the exact installment, and I don't want to make any invalid guesses. Also, I've heard #166 before, but I don't know what it's from and it's going to drive me mad.
Double Post: Got #166. It was actually the first thing I thought of, but then I was like "nah, that can't be it". I checked some of the music on my HD, and it turns out it was.
it's ok now. I just got it.
and I... suck anyway..... I clicked the wrong "Guess" so I answered #50 instead of #51 -_- I'm waiting to see my score.. Double Post: got 79 woohoo. But for any others, forget about it. I'm pretty sure I don't even know those other games (or maybe just the name). So I guess it's my final score.
Finally updated today with 14 new tracks. He said he tried to include some newer stuff, but so far it seems like a pretty normal update. I'm not doing too well with this one; only have 2 out of 7 right now. :-/
Argh, I've heard #194 but don't remember what it's from. #196 sounds familiar as well. Ended up getting #189, 191, and 197 right. I think my guess for 187 is right as well. Still have to figure out what 194 is. EDIT: Yay, my guess for 187 was indeed correct. So, 4 out of 14. ![]()
Most of my points come from older tracks. ;_;
And proving that right, the only ones I got were #190 and #198. I swear I listened to #196 in the past few days, and good Lord is #194 familiar. Anyone who doesn't get #190 needs to be shot, by the way. CLASSIC |
|
I just got 197 in record time. 2 notes. :P
198 I got CLOSE, but probably won't get the points for. I got one word right. ;_; Got 191 and 189 also... I dodged a bullet by guessing 190. =o |
