Question Other Heavy Percussion Battle Music?

I have recently been listening to a lot of combat tracks from the Heroes of Might and Magic games. The drums and percussion in them are fantastic. I was wondering if anyone knew of other combat/battle style music with a lot of drums with similar mood from other games. I’ve listened around a lot but would like to hear more of this unique battle sound.

Hmm...I'll have to think a bit about that. Age of Mythology and Pac-Man World 2 are two excellent soundtracks I can think of that are very percussion-heavy/percussion-focused, but I don't think either one of those would fit the battle sound you're talking about. I'll have to listen to some HoMaM stuff, though; perhaps they would.
Latest music rips (updated April 11, 2008):

Cold Winter Original Game Music Score - Really cool; dark, full, emotional strings mixed with drums, piano, choir. Kind of like Furious Angels?
Super Off-Road - SNES rock from the Follin bros.

Currently playing: Nothing

Play-Asia - Japanese CDs, game soundtracks, game imports, & more

What else do I listen to?

Heroes of Might and Magic. I meant that I have to listen to Heroes of Might and Magic music so that I know better what you're looking for -- Age of Mythology and Pac-Man World 2 (AoM more likely) might have similar-sounding songs.

Yoshitaka Hirota (Shadow Hearts series) uses a lot of percussion in his battle themes.

Okami is heavy on the percussion. Unlike Hirota, Masami Ueda focuses on using traditional Japanese instrumentation, as opposed to some of the downright wonky (but still good) percussion in Shadow Hearts.

Rumbling of the Earth from Baten Kaitos has a lot of tribal percussion in it. So do all the battles in the Panzer Dragoon series that I know of.

Yoko Shimomura did a FANTASTIC job with Legend of Mana (Seiken Densetsu 4), and there's three tracks that really involve heavy drums/guitars/ROCK!! "Pain in the Universe", "The Darkness Nova", and "Irwin on Reflection". Have fun!!!
What's all this?

There are a lot of great "Vagrant Story" boss tracks that have heavy percussion in them.

Particulary "Golem".

But yeah, one of the most percussive battle themese I've heard would be the standard battle theme from Legend of Legaia.

Try the battle themes from Magna Carta. Not necessarily heavy with the percussion, but very rhythmic and very catchy.

Now tell me all about your pain, down to the details.
