How to find motherboard
ok, i want to know what kind of motherboard I have for my laptop, I've checked the BIOS, the msinfo32 and i cant find the name of the motherboard. I need to know this because I want to upgrade my laptop but don't know the specs of the motherboard. If this info can be found in windows, please guide me on how to find it.

I wouldn't recommend upgrading your laptop's motherboard, even if it's possible at all. In dealing with ordering parts for laptops at the shop I work at, you're looking at anywhere between $400 to $700: easily the cost of a brand new machine. :/

Does anyone know if it's possible to upgrade the CPU on a dell notebook? I currently have a celeron-m with 1.5ghz installed. The major downside is that it doesn't support clock and voltage reduction so power consumption is always high. Most power can be saved by switching the lcd off or powering down the harddisk (works better after installing 2gb of RAM due to more file caching). Now I'm thinking about installing an intel core cpu. The things that bother me are: - is the cpu always socketed - pin compatibility - heat production (is the cooling system going to handle it) |

To Esp -- What kind of Laptop? That knowledge would be helpful
I think most laptops all use the same memory don't they? 200 Pin SoDIMM? to Liquid -- Unless its like an XPS wouldn't it just be cheaper to buy a new Laptop than to completely disassemble it to replace the core  |

I've already disassembled the machine out of pure interest, so this shouldn't be the problem.
Apart from replacing the CPU I also plan on switching to a larger harddrive and more powerful accumulator. |
