2 DVD Burners Problem

I have the NEC DVD burner, well two of them in my computer. And only one of them is set to burn. It seems like only one is allowed to burn, not like I would burn two cds/dvds at once but sometimes it doesn't recognize blank cds. So then I have to right click on the drive, properties, the recording tab, and enable it to record.

Does anyone know a way to change the settings, or what happens when you have two drives in your computer that can both burn cds/dvds?

Use a decent burning program. Like Nero. Then never have that issue again.

Maybe you need to force the use of an ASPI layer, assuming you have Windows 2000 or XP.

Try Snowknight's trick. All I know is that I'm running Dual DVD-RW drives, I alternate my burning between them, and haven't had any issues at all. Granted, I only burn once in a blue moon from Windows, but I alternate between either drive without issue.

My 2 drives work fine. Not sure what your problem is.

(Gremlins methinks)

Same with my two.

Did you make sure to set one as master and the other as slave?

CS works just fine. In fact, unless I'm dealing with a HD with the OS on it, I just go Select.

To elaborate on what Lukage said, the system probably wouldn't boot to an OS if there were a conflict in the master/slave settings. (That is, if both drives on a channel were set to one or the other as opposed to cable select.)
