DVD not playing on Laptop

So my friend has a Gateway computer with Vista Home Premium on it, fairly new and I decided to let him borrow a movie to watch. It was the Unrated Saw 3. And it would not play on his laptop. When he would try using Media Player Classic it would say on the bottom "DVD Copy Protect Fail". Now this was a store bought DVD, not bootleg or anything like that.

Then he tried to use the media center to play it, it said it couldnt play it because it "may" be being used by another application on the computer, which it wasnt. We tried this after we closed MPC and even rebooted it.

Then we tried the regular Windows media player, which Im pretty sure was WMP 11. And it had a message, I forgot what the beginning part said but The last sentence was Try updating your drivers for your video card or something like that. Now I dont know why it would not have an updated driver when the DVD was made earlier than Vista was so I dont think that should be the problem, but if it is, why wouldnt a laptop be able to play a normal DVD movie?

So while it might be that, I think it would be something else thats causing this. Any ideas guys?

Thanks guys, turns out that the drivers WERE out of date, which doesnt make any type of sense because Vista is new.
