Wrong Windows Come Up

When I have more than two windows open, clicking on them down at the taskbar to show them on-screen causes other windows to want to come up sometimes.

So okay, I open My Documents, then open 2 txt documents in notepad. Now all three are opened. Not minimized. I want to compare the two documents, so I click on the first at the taskbar, then click on the second at the taskbar. By clicking on the 2nd of the 3 available windows, the third window will try to come up instead (My Documents, in this case).

It happens when I'm using Alt-Tab, too. If I try to Alt-Tab between 2 windows when I have more than 2 windows open, a different one will come up instead of the PREVIOUS one. It becomes really rampant when I have a lot of windows open.

I'm running Windows XP. Home Edition, I believe (it doesn't tell me the edition when it starts up, so I'm assuming it's the most basic version of XP available). I'd really like to know how the hell to fix it. It's been going on literally since I've owned the computer (which is almost 3 years now). I have been searching on Google for a long time about this, and I always get nothing. I'm not part of any technical sites, so I'm hoping a computer whiz here at Gamingforce can help me.

Cheers.

I'm running Windows XP Professional, and I haven't encountered this problem. This may be a silly question, but none of your windows are maximized, right?

Ciao.

I may have all or none of them maximized, but it hasn't mattered as far as the bug is concerned.

It's really aggravating because I am the only one who has ever had this problem as far as I've asked around. Even my relatives who work developing software for computers or building computers tell me they have no idea what the hell I'm talking about. Makes troubleshooting it really hard.

Unfortunately, though, it happens with windows of all sizes. It's a very fair glitch.

Have you ever tried re-installing Windows? If it's a glitch nobody has ever heard of, it would seem like a random bug that might be due to a slightly dodgy installation.

Ciao.

I've had somewhat similar problems where I'll click on one minimized thing at the task bar and multiple windows will pop back up. Occasionally it'll open the wrong thing, but since it's a minor annoyance I've learned to just deal with it.

Also it's happened to me on pretty much every PC I've owned, so maybe it's just some quirk on how we use windows versus other people.

Cheers.
