Great Balls of Fire!
Quite literaly. Let's start with some back story.

Quote:
One week ago, a large solar flare from an Earth-sized sunspotproduced a tsunami-type shock wave

Quote:
The solar tsunami spread at nearly one million kilometers per hour, and circled the entire Sun in a matter of minutes.

This happened last week.

Yesterday:

Quote:
Sunspot 930 has unleashed another big solar flare.
As a result of the blast, a radiation storm is underway. Satellites may experience some glitches and reboots, but astronauts are in no danger. The explosion hurled a coronal mass ejection toward Earth
Which can be seen here

So we're safe, right? Astronauts have their sheilded space station, we've got the protection of our magnetic field, (which will give us an outstanding auora light show when the flare reaches us) but wait! All is not as it seems. Just Recently...

Quote:
A Coronal Mass Ejection resulting from an X3 Solar Flare earlier today is forcing the ISS and Shuttle astronauts to take cover and may result in communication disruptions.
More news as I receive it. Stay tuned!
