What was YOUR favorite Academy Award nominee for Original Score?

So, what was your favorite nominee for Best Original Score?

I will wait until someone replies before I state my own favorite nominee, since this will raise my postcount.

Seems like no one cares

I was personally outraged at Santaolalla's win, but saw it coming from miles away. The fact that it's low-key plinkery makes it riding the coattails of a successful movie to Oscar gold even more of an insult. I haven't been this mad since, well, last year, when Kaszmarek scored a more-earned but still-insulting win over Passion of the Christ.

I wasn't to impressed with the Oscar crop, frankly; Memoirs is the most traditional and melodic of the lot--classic Williams, really, doing what he does best. I could name 5-10 scores I enjoyed more this year, but it's still a good, solid entry.

Seems like whenever a composer gets two noms, they're doomed to lose because it splits their votes; look at Horner in '96 and Elfman in '98.
