[Television] George Carlin is Dead
Comedian George Carlin dies in Los Angeles at 71 - Yahoo! News
Man that really sucks. I was such a fan of his material. Seems like a lot of the good guys are dying during a short time frame. |
|
He had a history of cocaine issues, as well as heart problems.
Born October 8, 1943, in Lower Manhattan, New York.
Cast member from 1975-1976. First cast member to leave. After SNL: Famous for Caddyshack and the Vacation series of films. Has hosted the show seven times since his departure and is reportedly banned from hosting in the future. Fun Fact: Chase narrowly escaped death by electrocution during the filming of Modern Problems in 1980. During a sequence in which Chase's character wears 'landing lights' as he dreams that he is an airplane, the current in the lights short-circuited and arced through Chase's arm, back, and neck muscles. |

He's had a few bypass surgeries in the past if I remember properly. This is a huge blow to humanity (and at least comedy) as far as I'm concerned. There are few comedians as well spoken, truthful, articulate, caustic and hilarious as George Carlin. He will be missed.
RIP

As for George, I've nothing snarky to say. He was a brilliant man and his passing saddens me just a bit. He'll be missed by millions, I'm certain. |
|
Wow, I can't believe that. I'm glad that I at least saw him live once, even if it was a long time ago
. When I was little he was definitely my favorite comedian (especially since my dad wouldn't let me watch Carlin when he was in the room) and I still enjoy seeing him do cameos in movies and TV.This has been a pretty depressing month... |

To say that I was a fan of George Carlin would be a gross understatement. He was, by and large, my favorite comedian. His acts, while really aimed to be almost juvenile by most standards, really hit a lot of bases and put a lot of things into perspective for me; and for a couple of generations as well.
This is, indeed, a sad day for me. R.I.P. George. You will be dearly missed. <3 ![]() |

"Heres another thing I've been pondering. Have you heard this? Three out of four people now believe in angels. What are you, fucking stupid?"
This farce... this 20th century Bastille that pretends to be a pocket Democracy... Can you laugh? Can you cry? Can you think? Unlike me, many of you have accepted the situation of your imprisonment, and will die here like rotten cabbages.

Damn... He was just here in Las Vegas doing shows this month. If I'd had any idea he'd be dead in a few weeks, I'd have definitely gone to see him.
Truly a sad day for comedy. R.I.P. George. ![]() |

My favorite comedian has passed. It's indeed a sad day for me. I was lucky enough to see him live when he came to my town a few years ago. The first routine I saw him perform on HBO was You Are All Diseased, which ranks as one of my all-time favorites. Here's a good clip:
Rest in Peace, old man ![]() ![]() |

Considering the average life expectancy of the United States for males is 75, then 71 is pretty good especially given his health problems. Somalia's life expectancy is 47. I'll probably just get a bunch of his DVDs and watch them all on Friday in honor of him. |
Rest in peace, Carlin. |
