The last DVD I have purchased was Charles Bukowski - Born Into This. It is a biography of who Henry Charles Bukowski Jr. was, and also exposes the movie Barfly for what a flop it was.

I don't purchase too much music as I have friends in the music industry that mail me music to play at parties to promote them.

Recently went to an Under the Influence of Giants concert, where they were selling their CD a day before the release. Picked one up, got it autographed, was happy.

It's good music but I think in the classic timeline of pop music where it's REALLY GOOD REALLY GOOD ZOMG then fuck turn it off because you're so burned off it.

Just picked up a couple guitar albums--Steve Morse's "Prime Cuts" and "Hell III" from the Hellecasters. They're just as good as I expected. I also got Jaga Jazzist's "The Stix", which I haven't spent much time with yet.

I also got the dubbed War of The Monsters too for a dollar. It's one of the Gamera movies, whom I hear is a competitor for Godzilla, and I heart Godzilla. Gamera is a rampaging atomic turtle who, like Godzilla, was bad at first and then turned good. That's all I know about Gamera!

Well if you loved War of the Monsters, the odds are you'd definitely enjoy the Heisei Gamera movies. Those revolutionized the way monster movies should be done. I don't know if you've seen them yet, but if you haven't, track down Gamera: Guardian of the Universe, Gamera: Attack of Legion, and Gamera: Revenge of Iris. It's a brilliant trilogy. Highly recommended to any monster fan.

I haven't seen War of the Monsters yet. I've no time to be watching movies on the weekdays. I've no idea what to expect from it, as I've never seen a Gamera movie before.

I've heard many good things about the Gamera trilogy, but I've never seen it in stores. I'm assuming it's JPN only?

Simpsons Season 8 - Most likely going to be the last Simpsons boxed set that I buy. The last great season was 7, with 8 being alright but already starting to slip a little bit. 9 is where it started to go south. Still though, some gems on this one. Homer vs the Eighteenth Amedment and The Brother From Another Series really stand out.

Best Buy also didn't have any Animaniacs, and thus I was very displeased.

GI Joe is the codename for America's highly trained special mission force. Its purpose: to defend human freedom against COBRA. A ruthless terrorist organization determined to rule the world.

I've been able to find them in stores like Best Buy or Suncoast. If your area has a store that sells a lot of movies, ask and see if they carry it. If they don't have it, but you're interested in getting them, you can always order them. It's worth it in my opinion, but then again, I'm a monster nut - so I'm a bit bias. But if it helps, my non-monster liking friends enjoyed it.

There's Best Buys here but they don't carry it. We have no Suncoasts in Canada. Unfortunately, I can never find lots of movies I want on DVD here, so I usually have to order through Amazon.ca to get them. However, I don't really want to spend $20 on movies that I've never seen, for fear that I may end up hating it and wasting my money. Perhaps if you know a way to DL the movies first, I can check them out myself before deciding to buy them.

P.S. Amazon has the Gamera: Ultimate Collection for 8.99, and it has War of the Monsters, Destroy All Planets and Gamera the Invincible (dubbed only).

Went to CD Warehouse (which recently expanded from all used CD's to include some new indie releases) and bought copies of Tapes 'n Tapes's The Loon and Broken Social Scene's You Forgot It In People. I heard a couple of tracks off of The Loon on Sirius radio earlier this year, and I've been searching for the actual album since. I don't have a good excuse for waiting four years to buy You Forgot It In People.

Buying those two CD's earned me a free used one, so I bought a copy of Debut by Björk on a whim, and hey, it's really nice too...it's kind of weird, but that's part of the appeal, I think.

I should learn to order obscure things off of Amazon instead of running around searching for them locally.

I recently bought the CD "The Downward Spiral" by Nine Inch Nails, and I actually like it. The lyrics aren't very good, but the music itself is interesting and well done.

An unexpected bonus of moving to Iowa City is that I now live about four blocks away from a music store. They have some used selection, and a lot of new indie albums. Tons of records, too...almost makes me wish I had a turntable.

I bought new copies of Moon Pix and Illinois, a used copy of Guero, and barely managed to resist buying a couple hundred dollars of stuff.
