Okay so now TSN is reporting that Pat LaFontaine is going to be resigning from his position with the Islanders. They all had such high hopes and where are they headed now?

Oh, that's right. Straight to GARTH MOTHERFUCKING SNOW.

Good news in Pittsburgh: The Pens resigned Colby Armstrong, giving Sid a competant option on his line, as well as two unnamed players who reportedly will fill some holes.

GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRR RRRRRRRRRRRRRTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH HHHHHHHHH

Watch him come outta nowhere in the future like Tony.

(Kavanaugh hands out a piece of gum) Aceveda: No thank you. Kavanaugh: Nah come on this is a fresh pack, it's Juicy Fruit. (Aceveda stares at him for three seconds...)Aceveda: I said no...thank you. (holds it out still) Kavanaugh: hold this out long enough some people feel compelled to take the gum, it's a sign they'll crack under pressure. Aceveda: (with a smug look) I know. - The Shield

Jon Kavanaugh: "He's just PISSING all over this department, and we're just supposed to lick it up! Do you like the way that tastes? (Lifts his hand up to his mouth) Because it tastes like.....PISS to me!" - The Shield

So we got Mark Recchi back. Seriously I don't even know if I want him back here. The guy will be 39 years old this season and with the signings and trades we were doing this offseason, it seems like he's just not going to fit. However it is good to see that he will retire with his original team.

Well since no one else will report the news (except for Ronz) then I will.

http://tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=172903&hubname=

Hasek is going back to Detroit.

I dunno, Wojo. It'll be nice to have a strong veteran prescence out there with all the young guys.

Sorry pal I haven't been paying as close attention lately as I normally do.

I'm a bit sad about Recchi leaving even though I did call it the day he was traded here. He was strong in the playoffs, but 2+ million for a 1 year deal at his age? No way we were gonna sign off on that.

Hasek going back to the Red Wings AGAIN should be interesting, if he can stay healthy. That team certainly doesn't seem to be getting much younger though.

Oh no its ok. I was just stating that it's almost like you and I are the only ones knowing what's going on in the off season.

Oh and Capo I guess but I don't know. Recchi was alright when he was here but god was he terrible on the defense aspect of the game. Didn't he leave Pittsburgh with a +/- of like -30?

True enough. This thread just isn't the same without Fire + Ice.

No, it's just that some of us are so fucking depressed by what our teams did in the off season that we can't bring ourselves to talk about it.

I've got some mixed feelings about Hasek coming back to Detroit. He retired, then... unretired. And yet he was still pretty good, but then he got hurt. It seems like anything could happen with him here. I would've preferred to keep Legace, even though the playoffs went poorly, he gets more blame for it than deserved. At least they have Osgood as a backup in case anything happens to Hasek, Osgood's gone through the playoffs before.

Haha. Question Deni, do you like the idea of Boston drafting Phil Kessel this off season?

Heh Fire on Ice only reports news from the Sens and no one else. Though I'm sure that's to be expected.

Yes, in that Kessel is a good player. But I'd rather it was last year and they took Phaneuf.

Nah, I've made plenty of posts before that had nothing to do with the sens, they're just not as interesting. I just don't have much to say regarding the happenings in the league right now. Yeah, I could have made an attempt at a hilarious GM Garth Snow joke (it wouldn't have been funny anyhow), or I could have made a pointless comment of the fact that Hasek is still playing despite having injured himself out of both the Olympics and the last season but that's neither something I'm very good nor something the thread needs more of. I'd have only end up coming off more asinine then I already do.

Besides, all of the four (maybe five?) people who actually read this thread know more about the trades and singings that are happening then I do. I've been around I just don't feel the need to be "hay guys sens signed neil and shaffer, party tiem" when you'll know by the time the season starts up again anyhow.

It doesn't really matter if I post, clearly you guys will keep the thread alive while I'm gone

What a thing to wake up to. He said he wanted to play for the Pens this year, and that the only thing possibly stopping him was the Russian team not letting him leave, and then he voluntarilly signs a new contract. What a cunt.

This is really dissapointing. On one hand i'm glad that we won't have to see Malkin in the east this season, but I was looking forward to seeing what he can do in the NHL. This also raises the question of who the Pens will have at the center position behind Crosby.

I guess this just means that Gonchar is gonna have to step up and just play 50 minutes a game.

I say we send Wojo to Russia and have him kidnap Evma. The Pens NEED him.
