[Television] Futurama

This might be a dead topic, considering the show is over, and instead of bringing it back, they decide to make 4 movies, but this is still my favorite show.

UPDATE: Any new news? This thread has been dead for months. Please share with the GFF community.

PS Remember when Zoidberg was like "And I'm his friend JESUS!"
Omg that was funny.

Cheers.

Yup i agree, very funny show. Personally i would pick this over Simpsons anytime. Simpsons is living on it's name now. I did not know they were making Futurama movies, do you have more info on that?

Look for the "Futurama Return to DVD Seems Likely." Seems the source for this is Billy West, the voice of Fry and 90% of the rest of the cast.

I personally would prefer to see more half-hour episodes a la Family Guy. Made for DVD movies have a history of, well, sucking.

Cheers.

True, on both accounts. Though, since they are going through the trouble of making four movies, it would be pretty nice if one of them hit the big screen. Futurama would be pretty badass in a movie theatre, regardless of the quality of the movie itself.

Futurama is a series I've always wanted to see ressurected, and I sure as hell prefer it over the Simpsons. Even still, I'll be happy to see the movies, big screen or not.

Cheers.

Yeah, I've always loved Futurama, and the Simpsons is just running out of ideas, holy frick! I saw the new episode today, guess what it was, SIDESHOW BOB, [sarcasm]holy crap, what a surprise, except this time they were in ITALY, woooooo, what a cool episode...[/sarcasm]

It's just getting so bad these days...

Futurama, on the other hand, was a GREAT show, I still sometimes stay up later than I normally would to see a rerun. It's a shame that they're making movies, because I think that will taint the great memories everyone had of the show. Rofl, I remember the first episode, since then I was hooked, I loved that show, and bought a bunch of seasons on dvd. I think I'd even rather watch Futurama than Family Guy...

So yeah, I wish they'd bring Futurama back, but if it's between movies and nothing, I'd take nothing, live with my good memories...

Ciao.

I found Futurama to be somewhat inconsistent. It did really random things like Kif getting pregnant, but sometimes there were funny things (Space Invaders parody).

But this randomness does seem to be less random than the Simpsons as it stands now.

It's coming back! According to Billy West, they signed on for 26 more episodes for TV which will shortly go into production!

This is the best news since...ever. It might be enough to actually get me to turn on Fox again, something I swore I'd never do after they cancelled three of my favorite shows in a row. If the same creative team reassembles, and the show is of the same caliber, this will certainly make up for the Simpsons sucking so bad.

I'm swelling with patriotic mucus!

Cheers.

Futurama is my favorite show of all time, so this is no doubt some of the best news I've heard in my entire existence. Good shows - 3, Fox - 0.

Family Guy has seen enormous success since it came back, I expect the same for Futurama, and Arrested Development supposedly has new life on Showtime. Fucking amazing. I love it. I will go watch the Seymour episode so I can cry like a baby again.

I just can't believe they allow shit like The War At Home to be on the air over shows like these. The main question is what dipshits actually watch shows like that? It's just abysmal.

Family Guy has been a let-down since it restarted.

LOLOLOL hammer old jokes into the ground!

The once-a-season treats have already reappeared tons of times. I've got a feeling Futurama will be wiser, since its humor doesn't hover around randomness and "remember the time when..." jokes/scenes.

Cheers.

Family Guy has definitely gone downhill, but it's still funnier than most shows. They have way too many songs (and none of them are good), and they make jokes go on for way too long. With Futurama, I just can't see them doing any wrong.

I can't wait for the new episodes. This show actually had a main plot but was able to stay away from it enough to make nothing but hilarity from it.

Its not exactly like that but damn was it ever funny. I cant wait for Bender to come back with his smartass remarks ^_^ "Thats not what she said WOOOO"

SWEET ZOMBIE JESUS!

Sounds like a Zapp or Kif sig/avatar will indeed be coming up next. This could be the chance to renew people's love for the show and to get MORE of it going. I have all of it on DVD and I need MORE!

This is freakin-fantastic news!

I really started getting into Futurama, and then it got cancelled, and I started to not watch it as much, but I will certainly start doing so now. Futurama DVD box sets are usually really cheap around here as well. Result!

Cheers.

This is great news, indeed. I might have to go out and buy the DVDs to catch up on the show, and then wait for the new episodes. Hopefully the episodes will be on by the next fall season, since it could just take over King of the Hill's timeslot since that show is ending.

Cheers.

The rumors for the movies had the same cast, so I'd assume it would work out that way. There weren't any disputes when the show 'ended' so everything is looking good.

Cheers.
