I leveled my knife skills (both CQC and Blade) at Knife Club matches. Its quite exciting. I cant seem to find a lot of Sniper matches hence Im still stuck at a nearly mastered Sniper+ My Running skills are still at two and Assault Rifle skill at one

an expansion pack has been announced, adding three new maps, a new game mode, meryl and johnny as special characters. It also includes one free character slot and they now let you create female characters.

screenshots and detailed info here: METAL GEAR ONLINE OFFICIAL WEB SITE

The virtuous vista map looks like an awesome setting for sniper battles. I remember seeing the waterway map in one of the MGO trailers, I thought it was gonna be included in the disc.

the level system is not like an rpg where when you get x amount of pts you get a level up, the level system in MGO works with kill/death ratio. So if you really get good and get more kill than death, then your level will go up but if after you get kill more often your level can go down.

Basically you could be stuck at lv 3 with more than 50h of play if you stay in that specific kill/death ratio.

oh I see, i thought the leveling system was more similar to cod.
Well I finally finishes bis boss mode in 3 hours and 42 minutes and I don't think I'm going to be trying that again so I'll see if I devote more time to online. I did join a knife battle last time and it was a bit hard at first since I'm so used to gunning them down.
Oh and SVD is a bitch, got shot a few times by it and it sent me flying across the damn screen.
Expansion Pack sounds very cool indeed. After finding out that I can't change the gear or color of my character after creating it I've been wanting to change it's look so I guess the rewards system will be handy.
how is the expansion available are we suppose to download it from the konami page?

Man, the site's such a tease, it says the new pack is out now, but you can't buy it yet. I'm definitely making a purchase, especially since you get an extra character slot with it. The map I'm most interested in is the Coopertown Conflict/City of Sorrow, it looks like it's a remake of the Brown Town map which was one of my favorites from the first MGO. I'm curious about the Survival mode though, I wonder how that works. Hopefully it isn't too hard to rack up reward points, as I'm dying to get my guy some new gear (mostly new camo). The special character selection (Meryl and Johnny) is probably be similar to the MGO1's system, where if it's enable the heighest ranking or lowest ranking players (or random, depending on host) of each team will get to play as Meryl and Johnny respectively (kinda like in MGO1, how the KGB team got Ocelot, and GRU team got Raikov). Haha, no doubt Johnny's salute is gonna be the stomach ache one, though it'd be sweet if they included the one he used when Meryl introduced Rat Patrol Team 01.

Oh, and I've been leveling blades as well. I got it to Lv 3, so I can slit throats now. Heh, it's which pretty effective and efficient for TSNE (which is my new favorite mode to play, next to Base). Though I personally find the ol' CQC grab (the one where you slam em to the ground) and stun knife combo to be much better. You can get both a stun and kill, it doesn't require any of the skills, and it's just as effective.

Only thing I hate about CQC is when the other player is lagged.... >.>

Oh hey got to level 4 now and sniping at master

Its kinda stupid where 'ghosts' (during TSNE) can still be affected by magazines... lmao

I lagged a number of times ~_~
The most annoying thing about lagging is when you die, then you respawn, then the game glitches up and you die as soon as you respawn and transparent. It still only counts as one death but its annoying as heck. Fortunately I only lag when my damn bluetooth is on for some damn reason.
Oh and I joined a Knife Only team DeathMatch and got so many kills. I was mostly killed by my teammates but I was always number one by the end of each round. I was able to get to knife level 2, not only that but I went up to level 4 =0
Then everyone decided to kick me out of the room because i was doing too good or something ~_~
Well I did see some enemy guy coming towards my teammate. My teammate was crouched down and tried to stun him so he missed, so i took down the enemy cqc style and knifed him. I guess sorta technically I stole his kill. Immediately after that they decided to kick me. The way I see it he would have been dead anyways. I never even took anyone's kill before that, if anything my team was messing me up by "accidentally" stunning me from behind when there was an enemy at my front. They kinda pissed me off.
There was this one moment like 5 seconds till the match ended where two guys were stand in front of each other and I had to make a rapid decision on either, trying to cqc one and take him down while the other kills me, or just run away. Luckily enough they were standing very close to each other and I went forward while slicing my knife at the air like no tomorrow and was able to get them both. It was awesome.

What pisses me off during knife games is when other people stun/kill you while you are stunning/killing another. Sure, its natural for them to do that since you're vulnerable, but its cheap and it sucks.

But meh, I'll just do that to them as well >:E

So um...there's this new Expansion pack and all, along with a new update. Wow, did the update takes ages for me.

And this reward points system...will it be something everyone will be able to use, or is there a catch or something to it? For instance, like only if you're in a clan or whatever.

EDIT: Wow, that post above me answered everything as I was asking it. rofl.

awesome! I'm guessing the rewards is for everyone not just the expantion users. Don't know when I'll get the expansion though but it all sounds awesome.
Any news on the gff clan or has everyone already joined one. I have a few 17 hours under my account with a few invites but still will join a gff one if its in the works.

Oh and new extras for single player as well. Crying and Screaming Camo

EDIT: After forever and an age ago I was able to get the damn mgo update. From what I see the konami servers are way to careless since they keep having to do maintainence after a huge update. There are now "Grade Points" in which everybody is starting off at Rookie. Also I'm guessing that everyone has started off at 500 reward points? I thought we would start off depending on our stats but I guess not. Not only that but the expansion is unattainable since the mgo shop is out. So is the reward shop, so we can't even browse though it at the moment. I did notice that there is now Face Paint option so i wonder what kind of things we'll see there. I for one am hoping for all the face paints from mgs3 and i'm guessing the Grim reaper one will be wildly popular.

when you try to select a room thats gray or something it'll tell you something like Unable to connect to host go buy the expansion.
If your playing in a room and all of a sudden the host decides to use a new map, then I don't know what happens. Maybe you'll get kicked. So it kinda sucks cause 60% of the rooms I saw yesterday were people trying out the new maps.

you can,t you must have the expansion to play on the new maps...

For now I think that 15$ is too much for only 3 maps and one mode that is only available on the weekend... and beside that Konami don't know shit how to manage they server...

and they broke my filter... now no matter what i put in them it always show 0 server if I enable the filter...

you have to hold select for like 2 seconds until the speaker icon is white next to your name. I accidentally found this out and while not knowing it, I kept on saying "fuck" and "shit" and "what the hell are you doing, help me ><!" while not knowing while the mic was on.
Yeah and the expansion thing, it really is putting out a lot of people especially with the servers always on the damn fritz. Even more of a reason for us here to get together and play on the regular maps. I saw A few rooms that had the snake sneaking mission but everyone joined on the red team so that it would be a custom "Snake vs Everyone" Match. This would be really fun to play.
If anyone is level 20 yet, the clan would be great and I'm like an hour away but I've never had much experience with clans.

One more thing, not sure if some people gave out their psn ID's instead of their Konami characteer ID, because none of you are searchable through mgo ~_~
