[Tournament] Gym Battlers Open
Deadline to finish your matches: Monday, June 16th! ![]() So you want to play like a pokemon gym leader. Cool! You've come to the right place! There is one catch though. And that is your type selection, how that will be done is explained below. Current Sign Up Status: CLOSED Sign ups are closed! Tournament format: Round Robin Since this is a round robin tournament you are required to fight everyone for at least one round. First to three wins/draws ought to do it, that means a minimum of three actual battles per person before switch against a new player. So be sure to log down your victories and losses! And post about it back here.RULES:
How to Enter: Here's the interesting part. And the only fair method I could think of without going over board. To enter, post in this thread saying you want to play. "Maybe" and "I think" do not count as this next part is crucial to this tournament's success. Last poster will get this number:
I think that's all that needs to be said. Enter! Discuss and don't forget to pick my number poster #2 ![]() CURRENT PARTICIPANTS: (as of 12 Jun)

Reason: updated player roster.

Sure, count me in!
Chaotic can have mystery element #15. ![]() Backloggery -=- Because no one demanded it!

I just realized a tiny flaw with the type selection. Seeing that you guys don't know what type everyone else is using. And I do since I created the list. Would you be ok if I just reveal the selected types for each person? Do you care?

I'll toss myself in here. I used to do this back in the Red/Blue days. Hopefully I can throw together a decent team.
Going with lucky #13 Also I don't think that matters all that much in the long run. Even if you know the main type, the secondary type could throw you completely off. Or you could have someone not involved redo the list. ![]() [ Patrick James "PJ" Beckett ] |

I'm in!
Let's go with... #9.
EDIT: In any case, the sooner we know our types, the better. I need to get to work right away on my team, so could we maybe PM you for our type, Kai? Or have you not assigned types to the numbers yet? ![]()

No, just post the list once the competition roster is complete. Once participation is finalized, there's not much anyone can do about who has what type. Plus, there's the intrigue of seeing who can pull a silk purse from a sow's ear with a less-than-ideal type (looking at you, Ghost.)

Aw, I wanted #13, heh. Anyway, I'm in! Just one question though. The level-100 setting... does that mean that all Pokemon are automatically adjusted to level 100, or just that they can be up to level 100 [but if they're say, level 70, they stay at 70]? Also, with the benching rule... That means we can essentially have a
team of 9, and just use the six [or three, if that's the case] we choose for that particular battle? Also, no Legendaries... As there are so many now, could we possibly get a list of which are actually Legendaries? The only games I've owned are Red, FireRed, and Pearl, so I'm not totally up on the list these days. And I choose you, #7! |
The person below you wanting to play has to choose your number. So whenever he or she posts with that number is when I'll PM you your type. edit: also, yeah. The type listing is already complete. Right now I'm waiting on the participants to pick the numbers. |
|
Oh, I missed that in your opening post. Right then, Sousuke, I hope you picked me an interesting type!
ADDENDUM: Damn you, Sousuke! ![]()

![]() Kind of makes me wonder... a) What exactly you got that's so bad, and b) How Karma is going to hit me for it. ![]() |
|
I'm interested in this as well as long as I can find a USB adapter so I can play online. But I'm also wondering a couple things like what Sousuke already asked.

The level 100 option means that level 100 pokemon will remain the same, and all pokemon level 99 and below are boosted to level 100. They obviously won't evolve your pokemon for you though, so make sure your choices are at least fully evolved before participating.
Matches are usually set up at a time that's convenient for both parties. If you think your hours are going to be too weird for anyone to be able to work with you, then you may want to consider not participating. Most of us are pretty flexible on the weekends, though. ![]() |

Alright then, that works for me. I'll see if I can find an adapter this weekend. Time to pick a number then. I'll be uncreative and go with #1
Update: Decided rather then waste time looking around for one, I ordered one from Amazon with expediated shipping so hopefully it should get here early in the week. |
Yes, preset lv.100 means everyone in the battle will be at lv.100 and have lv.100 stats. Even if the pokemon is actually lv.70. And the legendaries list essentially includes the following:
