Best MPEG2-capable video editor?

I have a whole ton of videos in MPEG-2 format from a vacation, and I was looking for a good, easy video editing program. I have a ton of experience in Avid, but I'm sure that can't handle MPEG-2 as a source format, and I don't want to convert hours of footage to some other format.

It can be an expensive program, I don't care. (PIRATE PIRATE)

There is a MPEG2 mod for the popular VirtualDub app.
