Xbox 360 and Apple 20" Cinema Display

Anyone have any experience hooking up the 360 or any systems to Apple's Cinema Display? Specifically the 20" version? Since the 360 is HDMI and the Display is DVI I imagine I'd have to purchase an adapter correct? Is there anything else I'd have to do to hook it up in regards to picture, sound, etc? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I think you answered your own question. It should work fine as long as you get an adapter cable. The Cinema displays only support DVI in, not that you'd want to go component or something like that just so you wouldn't have to buy the adapter cable.

The sound, I think, you'd just need to hook up the sound portion of the component cables to your PC speakers or audio system since the Cinema displays don't have speakers.

EDIT: Also, the 20" Cinema Display doesn't support HD. So you may want to consider getting the 23"... although honestly, I think you may be able to get better screens for less money from just about any other brand. x_x;;

Do you know of any speakers that would allow component input? I don't recall seeing anything like that on the back of my tower.

the component audio input are just standard red/white jacks, like any other audio connection. so it should work with just about any type of speaker/sub setup. Logitech is a good brand, can get a nice set for under $50.

You'll want to get something that takes the two phono plugs you have and adapts to a 1/8" stereo jack (basic headphone jack). Something like this bad boy won't require any other cables.

Will something like that really degrade the sound? Or will it just come out in a mono quality?

Simply put, yes. Condensing 2.1 channel signal into headphone-jack style connection is going to cut out a lot of the cool audio effects of your games.

It's not too expensive to get a decent set of PC speakers that come with a sub.

Here's a nice set for only $35.

That's news to me. It's a only stereo signal to begin with, how could it lose "cool audio effects" if converted to a different jack? If you want discrete channels, you'll have to go for a digital solution (optical or coaxial).

EDIT: As far as I know, the Logitech speakers you linked to support stereo headphone jack input only, anyways.
