Graphics card for Vista

Hey, I'm thinking about calling up the ol' xmas I want to improve on this store prepared pc that I got a few months back.

It's a pc running vista using a Intel Celleron D Processor with a running speed of 3.3ghz.

Idealy, I want to play the likes of portal on it, however, the onbord graphics, as to be expected, arn't up to snuff to playing anything more taxing than MUGEN.

Penny for the guy?
All I'm saying is that if the laptops of the future are not in the
shape of chibi genie girls then I'm going to be sorely disappointed.

Pretty sure this belongs in Hardware.

Regardless of what your price range is (which you should state), prices for cards right now will 100% be changing come Christmas. Between now and Christmas, a new 8800GTS will be out, AMD's new HD 38xx cards will be out, and NVIDIA may even launch their D9M (9th generation "mainstream" part).

In all this mess, it's also highly likely that the ATI HD 2900 PRO and GeForce 8800GT will drop down to their actual retail values (especially the 8800GT: MSRP of ~$180 but it's selling for $300 everywhere)
