Preliminary Battle III
Listen to the following tracks, and select the one you like best.
Crusader of Centy (Gen) - Anemone Beach Skate or Die 2 (NES) - Title Theme
Latest music rips (updated April 11, 2008):
Cold Winter Original Game Music Score - Really cool; dark, full, emotional strings mixed with drums, piano, choir. Kind of like Furious Angels? Super Off-Road - SNES rock from the Follin bros. Currently playing: Nothing Play-Asia - Japanese CDs, game soundtracks, game imports, & more What else do I listen to? |
: Skate or Die 2 (NES) - Title Theme : Crusader of Centy (Gen) - Anemone BeachAnenome Beach is some catchy stuff. Gotta relisten to the soundtrack some time because this track has reminded me of how good some of the stuff from Crusader of Centy is. Skate or Die 2 Title Theme just rocks out too much for me not to vote for it, but I wouldn't mind either one advancing. |
|
I hate to vote against Skate or Die, because that PCM is just too cool, but Anemone Beach is catchy and I <3.
|
|
Come on, it's Rob Hubbard. Sold.
|
|
Oh damn, I don't know. Anemone Beach is really cool, but SKATE or DIE, D-D-D-D-DIE...! The intro is the best part, though; I guess overall Anemone Beach is the winner.

Anemone Beach is pretty catchy; Title on the other hand kind of annoys me with that constant grating...
|
|
The beginning part of Anemone Beach reminds give me a similar tune to that of Super Mario Bros. 3's World 1 Map. Pretty catchy.
Damn...sorry, I can't vote against my nomination. It rocks hard for an NES tune...and I almost didn't nominate it into this contest. If I hadn't, you'd be seeing a Metal Gear 2 tune in here. :P Skate or Die 2 - Title Theme gets the vote, but like CHz I wouldn't mind either one advancing. ![]() CPG settings complete. Neural linkage, ion density normal. Update meta motor cortex parameters. Nuclear reactor critical. Power flow is stable. Systems all green. Strike Freedom, system activated! |
|
Crusader of Centy (Gen) - Anemone Beach is catchy and bouncy, but dammit, it just doesn't belong in this contest. Not nearly bloopy enough! Not even close.
I remember Skate or Die 2 (NES) - Title Theme from the BSC. It's surprisingly menacing and intense for a sports game, even if the vocals are 100% pure Wisconsin cheddar. And it's bloopy as hell. I choose to Skate, while Crusader can just die. ![]() From goop we came, to goop we return.

Anemone Beach is the kind of Japanese VGM that I can't listen to anymore (apart from nostalgia reasons, and in this case, there are none). I associate it with the happy-happy-otaku-Japan-is-BEST-(and-I-actually-don't-know-much-about-anything-else-but-it's-still-BEST) kind of attitude, which I loathe. That's me though, and I'm sorry, but I can't vote for it, it just brush me in the wrong way.
Title Theme is extremely funny at the start, with the voice effects, and the rest is OK/good, yet not great. The harsh sound is a -, like most of Hubbard's NES soundtracks, but the composition makes up for it, as in this case. I'm going with Skate or Die 2. |
|
Oh god, I absolutely hated Title Theme from the prelims of the last contest, here it is rearing its head again. What was it against again? Eh, nevermind, it really doesn't matter.
(Anemone Beach is pretty good, actually) ![]() |

Anemone is my nomination, and I'm a sucker for music of its stripe, even though I wouldn't describe it in Rimo's terms.
I remember SoD from the Best Song Contest, and a joke is never as funny the second time you hear it. DAMN good coffee!

wah... Amemone Beach is fantastic, but like orion I feel the synth might be too clean for this contest.
Skate or Die has great lol-factor with its voice-samples and badass imitations. No hard feelings when Anemone Beach moves on, but since I like Skate or Die equally, I give the vote to the latter. |
|
I guess Anemone Beach sounds less like beeping, and is more like music, but I'm not a big fan of beach-music. Title Theme has that stupid voice thingy, but otherwise it is beeping! yay. It's not very good beeping, but beeping it is. I'll go for Title Theme.
I think, Therefore I can doubt my existence.

Come on, guys. I hope to not see these "it's too advanced" comments every time a Gen track rises up.
It's pretty nice, and I was going to vote for it, but SKATE OR DIE SK-SK-K-KATE OR DIE D-D-D-D-D-D-DU-DU-DIEEEEEEEEE |
|
Both of these tracks are very nice. The Beach track obviously has the system sound quality advantage (don't know what system it's from) over Skate or Die. But I like both very much.
Outside of VGM, I listen to hard rock/metal/heavy metal...so the rest of the track after Skate or Die's voice effects give it the slight advantage...something like 51/49 when compared to the Beach track. :/ If the Beach track won though, it wouldn't hurt my feelings in the least. EDIT: Oh, so...the systems are right there in the links to the MP3s and in the poll options... In the words of Eric Cartman imitating a retarded kid: "DUHHRRRRRRRRRRRR!" ![]()
