Skate or Die 2 (NES) - Half Pipe Legendary Wings (NES) - Area 1
Latest music rips (updated April 11, 2008):
Cold Winter Original Game Music Score - Really cool; dark, full, emotional strings mixed with drums, piano, choir. Kind of like Furious Angels? Super Off-Road - SNES rock from the Follin bros. Currently playing: Nothing Play-Asia - Japanese CDs, game soundtracks, game imports, & more What else do I listen to?

Umm . . . yeah. Half Pipe is made of suck and crap. Area 1 is enjoyable.

I remember a Skate or Die song from somewhere in the distant past; not sure it it was Skate or Die 2 (NES) - Half Pipe or not. The rhythm is enjoyable enough, but there's not a lot else here--it's almost like the chippy equivalent of the mindless trashrock that accompanies modern skate games.
The rising series of notes definitely gives Legendary Wings (NES) - Area 1 a flying feeling, and it's an enjoyable flight at that. Flying songs tend to be very satisfying when done right; this is no exception. [b]Wings]/b] wound up being more legendary than skates for me. ![]() From goop we came, to goop we return.

This is one of the reasons I think Rob Hubbard is rather overrated. He does some very interesting tricks with the NES sound chip, but there's not much of a tune in there. He's just throwing a bunch of noise at you. For all those fancy tricks, he gets trumped by a song that essentailly only uses two channels.

I dunno, I kind of like Half Pipe...it sort of reminds me of Konami's TMNT work. Legendary is the rare NES-era Capcom soundtrack that doesn't do much for me. Stage 1 is sullen without the depth of say, Bionic Commando, and it seems to loop too suddenly.
DAMN good coffee!

haha, Rob Hubbard is sort of fun. It has some interesting percussion but lacks in melody. Maybe it doesn't need because its purpose is just being pushy. Great lol.
Legendary Wings must be some sort of shmup. As much as it's uplifting, I feel it sounds like an half-asleep fanfare. Oh my, I don't complain about the synth, but it really produces a reverse effect when attempting to soar here. Otherwise not half-bad a track. eh... I am giving Half-Pipe a chance. |

Half Pipe has some weak parts of melody. They sound almost familiar. But the other sound mass is too repetitive. too repetitive. too repetitive.
Area 1 sounds a bit like many things. Like a pretty good music from an older RPG. Some parts sound a bit like FF6 music. And then some parts sound like some music from an repetitive strategy-RPG. It's not very interesting overall though. There is one part that sounds good. Vote goes for Area 1.
I think, Therefore I can doubt my existence.

I thought about giving Half Pipe some help but...I think Area 1 is the better track here, even though that loop cuts right in at 0:54 it's still pretty good.
