Crazy stuff you rocked in school

There's got to be some embarrassing things you've worn to school that looking back now you're glad they didn't catch on. Here's mine:

THE KEYCHAIN BELT ~ For those that remember, I used to collect keychains of anything. I'd make people in my family that went on trips buy me keychains (keep the T-shirts!). While I was in high school, I managed to amass enough of them to make a keychain belt. Nevermind that the thing was heavy, I wore it a few times to school. However, my keychain obsession got so bad that the darn thing was/still is as tall as I am! I had to wrap it around myself a few times. After awhile I got tired and started wearing different keychains on my jeans (through the belt loops). I still have that monster of a keychain belt.

PIERCED EARRINGS IN FINGERNAILS ~ This was probably the stupidest thing I've done in junior high. Because I didn't have my ears pierced (was too scared to do it), I got the bright idea of using a needle to poke a hole into the tops of my long nails and sticking the pierced earrings in them. I did one per hand, usually either my pinky or my thumbs. However, I learned the fast and hard way of how to quickly break off your nails.

BROKEN NECKLACE IN THE HAIR ~ This one was probably the least stupid of all my tricks. This one actually started in junior high. I had a favorite necklace I liked and the clasp broke and fell off. I got the bright idea of stringing two bobby pins on either end and attaching it to the back of my head. People probably thought something was seriously wrong with me, but I didn't pay any attention.

What are/were yours?

I am a bit disappointed that I didn't wear ENOUGH crazy things. Only my senior year did I decide to try some weird stuff, and it was fun, whether or not people liked it.

I was very proud of my odd clothes, but my favorite was my combination of calculus t-shirt, blue shorts, and knee-high socks that were tie-dyed orange and black (for the Baltimore Orioles)...I got some odd looks, but it was accepted with the relation to my personality...I'd still do it today if the public understood....

A NY Giant's (American Football) jacket, original colors. It's older than me, and I've worn it every day of Senior year. There's a sob story behind it, and if anyone ever gives me shit I feed it to them. It makes them feel awful, and after a while it became more of a mark of positive distiniction than anything else.

Though it should probably go through a wash, the original blood stains are still on it.

I'd wear that keychain belt.

Well, for me, I guess I could say that I use to wear a shoestring with my key to the house on it around my neck. Then I had a bright yellow bandana wrapped around my hand in a pentagon shape. That was last year.

Then there were the many different string a ma bob things that I put through my pants belt loops so that it would go around my waist once and then a long piece would be hanging near one of the legs swinging side to side when I walk or bouncing up and down when I ran. I hope that's not too confusing.

With me it's mostly the hair. I change my hair a lot. Last year I tried a different hair style for the whole school year. I wasn't very creative and only lasted about 2 1/2 months though..

Oh yeah, there were the safety pins in my shirt in different shapes. Like a square a triangle, a star...

my friend keeps saying that he should bring a camera to school to videotape me so he can show me later how dumb I was.

In 9th grade, I once wore a black turtleneck under a green Hawaiian shirt. I got the idea from a Dean Koontz book.

Thanks a lot, Dean Koontz.

Back in Jr. High, the thing was to collect those spring loaded toggles you would find on the zip pulls for winter coats. You know, the little plastic things that kept the hood zipped up tight around your face.

Kids would get into fights over those fuckers.
Will they!?

We had uniforms, but the unique trends I saw were:

-socks worn over pants
-pop-up collars
-thongs under skirts (I didn't see it!)
-coloured shirts under uniform (They had to be white normally,.. oh no! lol)

The first day of middle school I came with a guy harvey fish shirt tucked into my blue courdery shorts and long socks.

Yeah, I got beat up my first day of school.

Oh, the worst one wasn't really a clothing thing. I was trying to grow my hair out but I have a widows peak and as it was growing out it was about to the middle of my ears but the peak wasn't long enough to brush to one side or the other so it stuck down the middle of my forehead.

SO, I got the bright idea to cut it off...yeah...didn't realize that the scalp would be a different color than my forehead so I basically had this gray stubbly triangle at the top of my forehead for a while until it grew out.

That would've been fine but this asshole kid had to point it out to the girl I had a crush on. "Dude, what the hell did you do to your head? Look at his head" *crush: "Hahahaha what the hell?" *Me: "NOOOOOOOOOOEESSSSS!"

::Sigh::

Good times. Gag.

I don't think I've ever worn weird things.. Which is something I'm sad about, but there's no point in thinking about it.

Nothing really strange, but I did have the high top (or box) like Kid from Kid n Play for about 4 years. Looking back on it now, I looked incredibly stupid.

i wore school uniform.

what a rebel ay XD

since nearly everyone in australia wears school uniform, the most usual things you'd see on girls is that they'd make their skirts shorter, their shirts a bit tighter, more makeup, more jewellery, and sometimes they'd have legwarmers instead of socks/stockings.

for the guys, its nothing much. just don't tuck your shirt in, don't wear your tie properly.....

I'm still in school, and people there dress pretty average I suppose. Every so often me and a few friends organize "suit day" where we try to get as many people as possible to come in full suits. The last time we did this we scheduled it against student council's "pajama day", for the sake of juxtaposition.

On the last day of junior year, they were cleaning out the art room, and we got to help ourselves to some junk. In one of the drawers, there was this ceramic face that was probably supposed Darth Maul (or as a friend said, a cookie) with a hole in his forehead. So, I made a necklace out of it with some yarn.

I hope you got a picture of yourself rocking it in school. Memories!

I just remembered something else stupid I used to rock in high school for at least two of the four years. There was this oversized Mickey Mouse jacket that was gray, red, blue, and black that I wore everyday until the black blended in with the gray. If my friends were embarrassed, they didn't show it.

I had an overcoat at one point and would wear it a lot during the winter until I discarded it for being a shitty overcoat. Most people would think I was going to bring them harm or something and made a lot of Columbine references. Those that gave me shit to it would just see me play right along with it and I'd laugh at myself about it.

I also started growing my hair out when I was 13, so, in 2000. At this point podunk Riverton, Wyoming, you could actually count on your hands how many guys had long hair. I was one of two in middle school. Of course, I get the expected references to homophobia and the like. There was also a point where I was called "The Mullet" my freshman year. That same person also grew his hair out because mine was, and for thebrief time I had it short again--he cut it, too. It's quite humourous to think about, because after a couple years, everyone was growing their hair out. I think I started a fad...

So you actually started a successful fad? Thank goodness none of my stuff caught on. School would've been a hideous place!

I once wore a Styx T-shirt under my black denim Rocawear jacket I tend to wear a lot. I got a lotta questions about that like

"I thought you were gangsta or something. Guess I was wrong...or was I?!"

and

"Do you like rap and rock?"

or the regular
"Why do you like Styx?"

...I liked Styx. And I still do.

To celebrate Black History month I put "Whites only" signs on all the drinking fountains and bathroom doors.

I was only embarassed because I was caught.... by one of the only black kids in the school. He was cool about it and didn't rat me out though.
