Quick Question: When a candidate who actualy has delgates drops out, for example if Kucinich or Edwards were to drop out now, what happens to those delegates? Do they instead vote for whoever the dropout endorses or ar those votes wasted?

Kucinich may be useful for something after all...

Kucinich claim spurs N.H. recount - BostonHerald.com

Quote:
At the request of U.S. Rep. Dennis Kucinich and another minor candidate who got only 44 votes, New Hampshire officials will conduct a hand recount of the Democratic and Republican presidential primaries.

In a letter to Secretary of State William Gardner, Kucinich claimed there were “serious and credible reports, allegations and rumors” about the integrity of the primary results.

The top vote-getters in Tuesday’s primary were Democratic Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York, with 39 percent, and Republican Sen. John McCain, of Arizona, with 37 percent.

Conspiracy rumors were fueled because Clinton did better in precincts where ballots were counted by machine while Obama did better where ballots were counted by hand. Election experts, however, said there is no evidence of tampering or error.

Kucinich, of Ohio, received less than 1.4 percent of the vote. Republican Albert Howard of Michigan received about 44 votes statewide. They paid a $2,000 fee to start the process, state officials said.

Gardner is preparing an estimate of the recount’s cost, which the requesting candidates must pay before it will begin. He said he expects to start the recount Wednesday and will announce further details once the payments have been received.
While I may not buy into the whole conspiracy thing, those numbers did seem awfully weird when you consider how far ahead every media outlet placed Obama the day before the vote. Even weirder when you consider the family who claimed they and some others voted for Ron Paul when the town's official count said zero people voted for him, and upon a hand recount turned out 31 votes.

This could be an enormous bombshell if it turns out that the results were tampered with, but I'm not holding my breath.

There was no tampering. Kucinich calls for a recount pretty frequently, but it's pretty funny how much he absolutely hates Hillary. He's not doing this for himself, he's doing it for Obama. (Well, ideally he's doing it for integrity.) Kucinich has gone on record as saying that if he ever isn't on a ballot, people should vote for Obama.

I think New Hampshire uses scantrons. :P

Yeah, the place I voted at used scantrons... I don't see why they WOULD tamper considering there's a paper trail, but hey, you never know... I'm interested to see what the results of the recount are, regardless.

I certainly hope so. This primary season has been boring. Seeing Hillary Clinton cry was not nearly as satisfying as I thought it would be.

Compared to the last election's Dean scream these primaries have been disappointing to say the least. A large scandal of voter fraud involving Diebold's intellectual property would be awesome.

Just not as awesome as Howard Dean. BYAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!

Hahaha, as much as the elections are a serious matter, it does seem like a complete joke sometimes. Some of the debates, commercials, and campaign rallies are questionably shallow and useless to anyone that seriously cares (Huckabee's Chuck Norris commercial anyone?). It's a lot about entertainment in many ways, especially for the 24-hour news networks that only seem to report what gets the ratings. And yes...Hillary's emotional moment was a little disappointing. Dean's shriek was legendary and I don't think anything will ever dethrone that moment.

Here's a little tidbit regarding the call for a recount:
Quote:
However, later on Thursday, Bruce O'Dell, an information technology consultant who is coordinating Election Defense Alliance's analysis, found the percentages of the vote given to Obama and Clinton, according to which counting method was used, were mirror images "down to the sixth decimal place."

"There is a remarkable relationship between Obama and Clinton votes, when you look at votes tabulated by op-scan (computers) versus votes tabulated by hand:

Clinton optical scan: 91,717 (52.95%)

Obama optican scan: 81,495 (47.05%)

Clinton hand-counted: 20,889 (47.05%)

Obama hand-counted: 23,509 (52.95%)

"The percentages seem to be swapped," he wrote, in a short piece posted Thursday on OpEdNews.com. "That seems highly unusual, to say the least."

Really, I don't expect anything serious to come out of this. Any substantial information will probably be swept under the rug until its safe to release. Hey, maybe I'll be wrong though and we'll get some more recounts in every state. Too bad about those electronic ballots though...

Leave it to the corporate media to blow up some inconsequential issue like a candidate's show of emotion. Not defending Hillary here, because that might've helped her. Dean totally got the shaft though.

We should just build robots that'll be our president. They'll show no emotion and absolutely no remorse. It'll be very presidential-like.

That's odd. More investigation is needed though. You know, before anyone jumps to any conclusions.....

You're probably right that nothing will come of it.
