[PS2] SMT: Persona 3 (The RPG to keep talking about, since :awesome:) Now with more PEZ.

I have to say, the new box looks like shit. The original Japanese covers look very lush and nice, and there was plenty of other good Persona artwork to choose from for the American release, so I dunno why they went with a silhouette and some gay-ass pentagram on an ugly gradient background. Then again, fucking up American box art is nothing new, obviously. I'll definitely be getting the game regardless.

The US FES box looks pretty much like the US P3 box, so where's the surprise? Now that I've analyzed them, however, they aren't so great. Now I'm going to have to go to Kinko's and print out a glossy copy of Guernica or something and stick that in the game case.

speaking of the cover, anyone know where I can get a high res version of the japanese boxart for fes? Id rather use the others ones i've seen. Im glad its coming, but boxart now is just ugly.

I still haven't played Persona 3, but I'll probably import FES when it's released. I know I'll like it, I just haven't got around to buying it yet.

Geez, Best Buy isn't selling it until the 29th. Why do they always seem to lag a week or two behind on all release dates these days?

Yes today is the shipping date, which means stores won't have it until tomorrow. I only hope they have it by noon. And I think video games are a low priority with Best Buy, they probably use a cheap shipping method, ie: 3-7 business days. Gamestop is the only store I ever pre-order from.

Gamestops should have it tomorrow ;O I ordered mine off Amazon and did free shipping. It sounds fucking awesome (gonna restart the game and use codes to get my character levels to lev 35 or so. That's where I'm at right now) and steamroll through so I can watch the story again.

Unfortunately, I'll be leaving on Sunday, so I'll have to try it once I get back. And I'll have to play it pretty damn furiously since MGS4 is coming out mid-June! >=0

I'd just like to point out that Best Buy ships games 3-7 days because that's pretty much the industry standard for online shopping unless you're willing to pay ridiculous overnight shipping charges

To give a general answer to your question, unless the game is a MAJOR release (like GTA4, Final Fantasy, etc.), the quoted date is the ship date. Street dated early shipments are reserved for only major releases, and I think a lot of that has to do with the extra cost involved in making 100% sure it arrives early, as opposed to just sending it out the day they say they will and letting it arrive whenever.

Normally I'd say Skills was a bit harsh there, but nothing's more irritating than people going on about preordering at Gamestop if there's no special swag involved. If I wanted to hear that I'd go buy one of the two copies they'll get in, and listen to the clerk's high and mighty lecture about why I'm an idiot.

The best part is when you tell them you work at Toys R Us and you're reserving it there, and they try to tell you that your workplace of 4 years (4 times longer than the longest-tenured person at the store) isn't going to hold it for you and that you should reserve it with GS anyway.

I don't necessarily think Skills was a bit harsh. I'm just getting sick and tired of people complaining that they're game doesn't come in on time when they have it pre-ordered. I hear it so much back home. People treat it like it's biggest fucking sin on the face of the planet. Like their life depends on whether a game they so anxiously want to play comes on time; almost as if their happiness for that day hangs on the balance. When your game is pre-ordered all depending on the place they'll call you and tell you its in.

It is not going to make a big difference in my life if the game comes in on time or not. As long as I get it, thats all that matters. I don't care about being the first one to play it or own it.

You know when Suikoden V first came out, my fiance was obviously very excited about this game because she is a big fan of the series. It never came out on the day it was suppose to be in. To be honest it came out two weeks after the release date because of a shipping delay in our area. It was no big deal. We had it pre-ordered, so it eventually was going to come in. No big deal that it was 2 weeks late.

In terms of the game itself. I don't have it pre-ordered. I feel pretty confident I can get it when I get back to Alberta. The EB Games there doesn't generally sell a lot of J-RPG's so they'll always have plenty of copies. It probably won't be in until early next week. I'll pick it up then, but I am excited about all the extra features they added on.

I actually went to Gamestop to pick up my pre-order, but he guys says that yesterday was the shipping date. Damnit, I knew this too (fuckin' WORKED at a videogame store for a bit), but argh, I just want this fuckin' game.

Who ever would've thought that mixing the dating sim and dungeon crawler genres would make something so awesome? I guess two wrongs do make a right XD

The only problem is, I'm also sorely tempted by Mario Kart Wii, but I'm not sure I can afford to buy two games at this point. I'll probably end up waiting on one of them... I just have to decide which. Bleh.
