I know I should have asked this with the previous questions too, but, how is the music on this game so far? Does it resemble any of the other Tales games or does it have it's own style so far?

Are you asking if a Sakuraba composed soundtrack sounds different from other Sakuraba composed soundtracks?

Really now?

Sure, it's easy to tell when you're listening to Sakuraba, but he does have many different styles. For example; Tales of Symphonia sounds completely different then Valkyrie Profile, Star Ocean sounds different then Baten Kaitos, there are HUGE differences in the soundtracks. I just wanted to know what style he was going with on this game. I guess someone that doesn't listen to Sakuraba or any other VGM wouldn't be able to notice the difference.

Just because he uses different instruments doesn't mean the songs themselves are any different. The man has all the compositional variety of a fucking dildo.

I disagree, I've played a few games that he's done compositions for and they all have their own style in my opinion as well. True that you can tell when he's the one doing the composing, but he has plenty of variety when it comes down to his music.

Tales of Sakuraba style.

From the studio that brought you "I've heard this depressing song somewhere before" and "this piece reminds me of when I stubbed my toe on the wall"

It sounds pretty much like your typical Tales game, Sakuraba on auto-pilot. Abyss was a relative step up but aside from one or two town themes, Vesperia is back to being musical wallpaper.

I like Vesperia a fair amount... but halfway through (27 hours) and the story hasn't grabbed me nearly as much as Abyss' did. The characters are a pretty good bunch (and the voiced skits help a LOT) but the motivation is lacking and the villains are straight from the JRPG trash-bin.

Ah well. Could be worse. Could be Gongora.

I'm 20 hours in and Vesperia's music sounds exactly like Eternal Sonata's.

I like the story, characters and dialogue so far. It's a great change from the banal stupidity that was Lost Odyssey.
