My nominaton for Week #52. Lemme know if it's been done already, but I didn't believe so:
* Artist(s) - Tenpei Sato * Album/Game Title - Phantom Brave ~Original sound track~ * Track Title - "The End of This Passionate Feeling" (NOTE: My copy and the RPGFan translation has the listed title. The Chudah's Corner translation lists "The Edge of These Inflaming Memories", but I'm using the one I'm familiar with.) * Source - http://www.rpgfan.com/soundtracks/ph...ost/index.html / http://chudahs-corner.com/soundtrack...log=SLPS-20344 * File Location - SotW FTP * Composer(s) - Tenpei Sato * Disc Number - 1 (of 2) * Track Number - 03 * Catalog Number - SLPS-20344 * Year - 2004 There's nowhere I can't reach. |
Goddamit, Liontamer!
My next nomination was going to be off that same album! Different track, but still. Are two songs from the same album even simultaneously allowed in the nomination queue? (Now I know how Darkcomet felt when I songjacked him back in January. ) Most amazing jew boots |
I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
I see. Then, I'll have to check the nomination queue. If worst comes to worst (for me, not Liontamer) I'll just have to find something else in a pinch. Not that hard.
After checking the queue, it seems that Liontamer's nomination will be jumping right into next week's fray. I guess I can wait that long to see if I should find another track. Problem solved, more or less. I was speaking idiomatically.

2 Points - Ann's Theme
2 Points - After the Story Part 2 2 Points - Battle with the Colossus This kind of point distribution makes it quite obvious, that there is a great discrepancy between the tracks I like and not so like this week. So I'd rather spare the comments, especially when they won't end up being as different as "the song didn't stand out" or "didn't do anything for me". What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now? |
As for the point distribution (super quick votation, as I have to go to lunch now): 3P King Kong 2P PSO 1P MERIDIA Pretty good week this time, I was thinking to make a 6 hit combo, but I finally decided come back to the classic way. EDIT: ("P" is for points, and no for position ^^) FELIPE NO |
(2 POINTS) Peter Jackson's King Kong - The Official Game of the Movie (Game Rip) - Ann's Theme
(2 POINTS) Wander and the Colossus ~Roar of the Earth~ Original Soundtrack - Revived Power ~Battle With the Colossus~ (1 POINT) Clockwork Knight ~ Pepperouchau's Adventure - Never Say Die! (1 POINT) Armed Police Batrider (Game Rip) - ST5 Chasing Gang's Need Speed Satisfactory week. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
3 - Points - Wander and the Colossus ~Roar of the Earth~ Original Soundtrack - Revived Power ~Battle With the Colossus~
Wow, this is damn good stuff. The orchestration is top notch and the melody is very stirring, with very little repetition throughout the piece. In particular I like the overall tone, which has a very upbeat ("this boss is really tough but we can overcome") feel to it. This would be a legendary track for me if the ending had only been stronger, but that is just a nitpick. 2 Points - Clockwork Knight ~ Pepperouchau's Adventure - Never Say Die! This is a great jazz piece that features a solid melody and great saxophone and piano work. It flows really well and is very fun to listen to, which is a rare thing in Jazz VGM. 1 Points - Phantasy Star Online Original Soundtrack - After the Story Part 2 An awesome symphonic track that is both well executed and tugs on the heartstrings. It seems a little short though, perhaps this would have sounded better if all "After the Story" tracks were presented as one. Runner Up: Orchestral Game Concert 3 - Hanjuku Hero 'Divertissement ~ The Fourth Movement' Jam it back in, in the dark. |
2 points - ST5 Chasing Gang's Need Speed
2 points - Ann's Theme 2 points - Revived Power ~Battle With the Colossus~ There's nowhere I can't reach.

I would certainly support the Phantom Brave OST's eligibility, even if I didn't want to nominate anything from it in the future.
Just because it's had a little support in SotW does not mean that it's a universally recognized album, not on the scale that Katamari Damacy, Grandia or SimCity 3000 probably are anyhow. And technically, the Phantom Brave OST hasn't won anything in SotW, so that should allow it to retain its eligibility as well. Most amazing jew boots |
We had that poll about eligibility a while back... the fact that it's had two songs previously does not matter, especially since neither has placed.
You'd have a stronger case with the familiarity, but I'd say that, while it's certainly not obscure, it's not well known enough to be disqualified. Heck, we had that Eternal Arcadia track a few weeks back. I was speaking idiomatically. |
We've had Breath of Fire 5 and Phantasy Star Online. We've had Valkyrie Profile and Shadow Hearts 2 for god's sake. Phantom Brave cannot be as well known as those. Couldn't be more well known than the more popular Disgaea. And we've had Disgaea. No objection here.
We've had Xenosaga 2. Most amazing jew boots so they may learn the glorious craft of acting from the dear leader |
I think that my arguments are solid, but if there isn't a popular clamour against that song, there is no reason to continue with the discussion. Anyway, maybe a forth nomination from this album would be too much (I mean, if Crash finally decides to pick something from there).
FELIPE NO |
Your winner for this week:
(22) Wander and the Colossus ~Roar of the Earth~ Original Soundtrack - Revived Power ~Battle With the Colossus~ Second place: (20) Clockwork Knight ~ Pepperouchau's Adventure - Never Say Die! Third place: (18) Peter Jackson's King Kong: The Official Game of the Movie (Game Rip) - Ann's Theme What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
Jam it back in, in the dark. |
In other news, Chudah's Corner and Slightly Dark are now no longer part of the SotW cross-forum process.
There's nowhere I can't reach. |
Well that was depressing. Oh well. Congratulations on "Never Say Die!" for 2nd place! ... I guess.
This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
Oh wait, that was me. How ya doing, buddy? |
