Breath Of Fire I-V Original Soundtrack Special Box (Pre-order)
http://www.vgmworld.com/catalog/inde...c&item_num=823
A boxset containing music from all five Breath of Fire games is now available for pre-order at VGM World. The release date is Mar 31, 2006; only a couple weeks from now! Not only do we finally get an album for the BoF 1&2 music, but we get what appears to be the complete BoF 3 soundtrack (3 discs, as opposed to the OST's paltry single disc). My order has already been placed. Jam it back in, in the dark.

and please don't let that be the final box art! This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |
Don't worry; it's not. This is:

What's funny is that if you click on that "Now printing" jpg you get this
^- Looks nice enough. Cocoebiz caught all the important information from the Japanese site, also the note about a 28page booklet at the bottom of the page. edit: Uhm okay. I'm slow. I was speaking idiomatically.

Thanks Kaleb. I'll have to buy this set sometime just for the box <3
How ya doing, buddy? |
Well, there's only 2000 of these being made, so don't wait too long.

Man, I wish I had the money to buy actual VGM. In the meantime though, I'm really looking forward to the rips of these, I've always been a huge fan of the BoF OSTs (particularly 2 and 3), so seeing 3 get a proper 3 disc release, as well as 1 and 2 makes me very happy. I'd like to see how the songs will differ from those on the BoFIII OST (and the two lost tracks gamerips), and the missing songs rip I believe Grawl made for BoFII. Awesome release indeed.
What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |
This will be a nice boxset! However, on the BOFIII case, I think it won't be complete once again. According to VGM World, it would contain 95 tracks, while the complete game rips that were done had 118. You can remove some tracks that were only variations or short jingles, but it still doesn't make up for the 23-tracks difference. Or maybe they'll mix some tracks together. Anyway, it's definitely better than the 1-disc original release.

Some of the tracks from BoFIII lost songs rips had redundancies, slightly different versions of songs, but I don't think there is 23 tracks worth of them. Regardless, we'll still have the Lost Songs rips in tandem with the new official version, and what I have now isn't much to complain about. I wonder how they'll handle (or even if they'll include) the shorter songs that are 40 seconds or less in time.
There's nowhere I can't reach. |
Already preordered. :)
I like the II-IV soundtracks very much, with III being absolutely wonderful. It's getting a full 3 cds now, so the soundtrack gets the release it has deserved for years. The soundtracks of I and V on the side aren't half bad, as I consider them as freebies that come with total awesomeness. This thing is sticky, and I don't like it. I don't appreciate it. |

Fuck 104 dollars? I want this so bad, but that's so expensive (even though it's a great deal)
Damnit. Well technically, I do have all the soundtracks/rips, but I'm a huge fan of the Breath of Fire series, and I really want that booklet too. Well, nevertheless, I hope everyone who pre-orders it enjoys it! TT^TT;; How ya doing, buddy? |
This makes me glad I didn't buy the Dragon Quarter OST prior to this, even though I think it's a great album. Also, I still haven't heard the entire BoF IV soundtrack, but some of the tracks I have heard are excellent. This will be a treat to listen to when it arrives at my house next month.

well (IMHO)... I think I like BOFV best since it was Sakimoto's works. Not really fond of previous ones since I didn't event finish playing one of them and only BOFV got me interested enough to finish it. Though I kinda like some BGMs from BOF2 on earlier scenes. Well, I DO need to play those games and finish it to be able to fully appreciate the soundtracks.
But whew... ¥11950 (USD : 104.8) for 11 discs was quite a bargain. Too bad I can't afford to buy it. What kind of toxic man-thing is happening now?

I want it but don't have nearly enough money for it. I can only hope that someone releases it on Gamemp3s or on a FTP here, soon.
FELIPE NO |
Is the BOF 1/2 content going to be in its original, synthy form, or has it been remixed or orchstrated?
That, for me, would be the big motivating factor in buying such an expensive set, thanks to the advent of modern emulation, what with its alphabet soup of PSF's and SPC's. What, you don't want my bikini-clad body? |

60mb (average) per disc x 11 = 660mb for everything.
Anyway I'm buying it, I doubt I'll have the patience to encode them all. unless no one is willing to do it. There's nowhere I can't reach. |

hey are you saying I sounded like a noob? you fucker
well if each disc are 40 minutes each, it won't exceed a GB. (yeah I just realized it doesn't make much sense now. BUT IT WON'T TAKE 2GB THAT'S FOR SURE) I am a dolphin, do you want me on your body? |
Hmm, due to the inclusion of new music, I'm not actually sure what the average disc length will be, so you may be right. Furthermore, this boxset will not be using the OST discs from either BoF II or BoF III, so I can't use them for calculation. However, BoF IV & BoF V each had over an hour's worth of music per disc, so that alone should raise the average disc time for this boxset.
Double Post:
This boxset has 49 tracks from BoF I, however SNESMusic.org lists only 44 tracks (38 + 1 unused + 5 extra). The sound effect tracks are not likely to be included (see below), so something arranged may be occupying the remaning space. On the other hand, this boxset has 48 tracks from BoF II, which is exactly the number listed on SNESMusic.org, sans sound effect tracks. I was speaking idiomatically.
