Of course not, it's just a dumb contest.

If it was an absolute requirement, I wish you would've just said "failure to provide mp3s will result in your songs being ignored" instead of just suggesting that they be provided, and that you'd track them down otherwise.
Keeping in mind that, yes, it's trivial, my problem with this is that although at a certain point Pang did say just that, the cutoff point seemed way too premature. I mean, I make my noms in the a.m. Thursday and am effectively away from the internet until Saturday afternoon and all the sudden I have two hours to upload my tracks or else I'm holding everyone up. Jeez. Also, there wasn't a nominator who didn't plan to provide their tracks, they just hadn't yet. Anyway, I'm just hoping for a bit less haste from now on.

Admittedly I kind of rushed things — I was trying to push it out the door so we could begin before all the NE meet attendees left. In retrospect this was unnecessary since most of them seem to be spending the whole meet on their laptops browsing GFF anyway, so I apologize.

I guess direct links are okay too if I can find some mass download program.
You could always get Firefox and its DownThemAll! plugin to mass-download everything from a single webpage.

Get the Flash Player to play this audio file:

What the hell. I'm an idiot and I totally spaced on this thread, therefore totally did not upload ANYTHING yet.

So I guess it's too late to upload anything, isn't it.

.... A PM would've been nice.

I used this method and it worked out very nicely. I'd recommend it to anyone looking to collect all the tracks. By the way, "What You Want - John Butler Trio" seems to be a broken link or the upload on it wasn't successful.

Thanks for catching that, re-uploaded (with the artist and title in the right order this time).

.... A PM would've been nice.
I'm not sure how that would have helped; 32 people is 32 people regardless. There are several unfortunates who DID get their tracks uploaded but still aren't going to see any action.

I'm starting to think maybe I should do another division later in the year, with the number of disappointed people I'm seeing (and then the winners of each division would face off, natch). Maybe 512 isn't too much if there's a break in the middle?

Uhh no, 512 is way too much and dude, you cannot deny the fact that SAUS was NOT really fun last year. I mean, who really kept caring about this contest after the first 30 threads? I, for one, did not, and the fact that there were only like 15 people voting in the final bracket kind of says it all.

You guys try to speed up things a little bit this year, and everything's gonna be fine.

Additional Spam:
Also, uhh guys, would you PLEASE try to make your voting posts a little bit more significant? I mean, fagshit like "I don't like track A, so I go with track B" or "wow I can't open X.mp3 so I assume Y.mp3 is better" just doesn't do it, okay??

Wait.

32?

3.....2?

I'm a retard. I thought I read 36.

Ignore my ramblings then.

Oh, and 512 if you look at it as "SAUS PART DEUXTWO" or something is fine.

I'd just like to ask... anyone getting upset with my jokes? I'm trying not to make them biased in any way, so as to avoid the whole STOP INFLUENCING THE COMPETITION shitstorm that'd ensue.

For instance, for Cacophany - Speed Metal Symphony, without listening to the song, I wanted to put

It's awesome when the band puts out music that EXACTLY MATCHES their name, isn't it?

but I figured people wouldn't like me bashing the song.

That was before it got smashed in votes. >_>

I think we should make a rule that if anyone nominated a tune that gets only one vote, they are precluded from entering next year.

I appreciate that you fuckers will no doubt now do this to one of my nominations out of spite but I'm willing to take that one for the hood.

The problem with this idea is that collectively you guys have the attention span of a cicada, and so songs getting only one vote is not necessarily indicative of their quality but of "nobody showed up for this poll, oops".

If any song only gets one vote or less in the first round, maybe.

Why don't we just do what you're clearly alluding to: Just not allow Goldfish to participate because he fucking sucks balls when it comes to musical taste. Seriously. He's so awful it's unfair to give him 8 slots and keep someone else from participating.

Well, then I'm appeased. Though I think you might be right, Pang. Disinterest doesn't mean it's not a good song, or a good choice. Though I'd be behind the concept of banning anyone who argues for j-rock, j-pop, k-pop... fuck it. Asian bullshit music.
