Fuck you. Fuck you so hard.

I know, I know, it's not your fault... But still, fuck you. I still have hope for my song, damn it!

I think i've kept all that i can for this contest. Here's the pile, the higher the better (roughly), comments when called for:

Ed Alleyne-Johnson - Orange
Kind of a new-school Canon in D flavor to it. Really hope i see this guy busking one day...that youtube vid of him in Chester is fucking epic.

Bomb the Bass - Bug Powder Dust
How this lost out so early, i will never understand...

Bjork - Pagan Poetry
I get goosebumps every time she wails just before the strange coda.

William Shatner - I Cant Get Behind That
Funny yet rhythmically brilliant at the same time. Hilarious punch-line at the end that will continue to be funny!

Bruce Springsteen - Highway Patrolman
A nice story. The music boosts the lyrics and the lyrics boost the music

The Supremes - The Happening

Ugress - Decepticons

Elliott Smith - Angeles

Great Lake Swimmers - Your Rocky Spine

Flobots - Handlebars

The Muppets - Movin Right Along
..so trust my navigation.

Wesley Willis - Birdman Kicked My Ass
See title

Eazy-E - Boyz-N-The-Hood (Remix)

John Prine - Fish and Whistle
I have a feeling i will eventually despise this song and it's epitome of hokeyness, but in the mean-time i'm hangin on.

Thermostatic - Metal Skin

Yellow Magic Orchestra - Rydeen

Simian Mobile Disco - I Believe

17 keepers out of 248 tracks (not counting my noms), maybe even more than i expected. I'll take it, seeing as i REALLY like the tracks i kept.

I know that it's a tad early for finalized lists and that this is something that might've been better to do at the end of the contest (hopefully i add a few more to the pile), but i felt the discussion within this contest needed a boost. Let's be honest, this is probably farting against thunder given that BSC is in the prelims, but i gave it a shot.
Music is a mysterious thing. Sometimes it makes people remember things they do not expect. Many thoughts, feelings, memories... things almost forgotten... Regardless of whether the listener desires to remember or not.

I'd like to officially retract any negative comments I might have made about Metal Skin. I've had it on my iPod for a couple of days now and it's an incredible tune, I can't stop listening to it. Kudos to whoever nominated it.

I've found a few things that I really have enjoyed throughout SAUS. Usually stuff nominated by Capo and Paco. There may have been a few other notable tunes but I don't think I've really ever kept anything from SAUS -- instead I'll just go and get an album by an artist I enjoy. I think the most notable SAUS discovery for me was Explosions in the Sky, even though I probably would have discovered them on my own being as I was already avidly listening to Mogwai, GYBE and a few other associated post-rock type bands.

I think MEC is a much better outlet for finding good music on a consistent basis, though. Too much garbage in SAUS to wade through.
Source material always wins.

I'm sorry. Is the guy obsessed with how good Britney Spears is looking to be a music critic?

O, that's fucking rich.

Well, you know, SAUS isn't really designed to be a tool specifically for people with absurdly narrow and pre-determined tastes, so it's inevitably going to serve that kind of person poorly. It's the exact same reason we don't draw in the BSC crowd; most of this music is just vulgar nonsense to them. What can you do, I'm not about to enforce some arbitrary metric of metrosexual correct taste on everybody.

Oh, I don't expect you to do that Pang. I figured out after the first SAUS that this one wasn't likely to be worth my time.

And Deni, I don't care how Britney Spears looks all that much, honestly! I don't get what your point is, I've never claimed Britney Spears to be an example of particuarly good music. There's good music, and then there's fun music. You figure it out. And quit with the whole britney thing. It's pretty old by now! I'm sure there's lots more things you can use against me to keep it fresh.

There are, but none of them as clearly illustrate your dubious musical taste, for lack of a better term.

Hi Diss.

At least you can revel in the fact that I didn't make you listen to ten tracks of my choosing this SAUS.

But at least I didn't have to listen to 10 of yours, either.

I think next SAUS, I'm going to nominate 10 Britney Spears songs just to see how far they'll go.

Bitch please, I don't listen to songs you nominate. I vote against them because I already know exactly what to expect.

You act like your rambling about how SAUS isn't worth your valuable time is any more relevant.

Anyway, to everyone who isn't gay, I found some pretty wicked stuff this time around. School picked up and I kind of lost time to keep up with the contest during the latter half, but I have really enjoyed a few of the entries, certainly enough for me to consider it worthwhile. I'm sure nobody really cares which particular tracks I dug, but I'm glad this contest exists 'cause it is an interesting and fun way to hear new music.
