Yeah, just go buy the Megaman X Collection for $30 or less to get the first 6 games.

I don't intend to buy anything on VC that I already own or could get for that much cheaper. I almost bought Mario 2 until I remembered that it's on my SNES copy of Mario All Stars.
Take about five dozen eggs...

Why do people want to buy games that have already been rereleased in another format?
Oh, I totally forgot to stop by my EB Games today to pick up a new SNES system along with Chrono Trigger. You make such a valid point.

Yeah, because Square's in such a hurry put games out on the VC.

Oh, and because, you know, JUST LIKE FUCKING MEGAMAN AND/OR JUST ABOUT ANYTHING ON THE VC FROM THE FUCKING GENESIS IT'S BEEN RELEASED AGAIN IN THE PAST FEW YEARS.

Just because it's on PSX doesn't make my rerelease question not valid.

Oh, wait, this is "LET'S IGNORE WVLF'S ACTUAL QUESTION BECAUSE HE'S WACKY"time, isn't it?

I've said it once and I'll say it again: Chrono Trigger will NEVER be released on the VC. Ever. Not unless Square decides to release it themselves in a company specific channel, anyway. Highly unlikely.

You know, fine. If Square-Enix wants to just put titles on VC that they never think they can conceivably expand then they should at least have the decency to release EVO and Terranigma.

A. Nintendo Fans who refuse to buy a system that's not made by Nintendo.
B. Some of us don't like handhelds.

I fall under B and no longer have a working NES or SNES. I never had a Genesis. Sure I got all the Final Fantasies, Ogre Battle, and Chrono Trigger on PS1, but that doesn't cover a ton of other games I wanted like Breath of Fire and Shining Force. Also Secret of Mana has NEVER been remade to my knowledge. There are plenty more games I want, but I'm not gonna list all of them cause it would take too long.

I'm not complaining about SoM, and at least the handhelds thing is valid. I guess.
Hard to believe it was just 5 seasons...

I don't feel like buying a TG16 on Ebay, hoping the controllers aren't completely worn out and worthless, and hooking it up through an RF adapter just to play Atomic Robo Kid: TG-16: Atomic Robokid (This is the TG16 game I'm waiting for.)

For a fee of only $5, it's worth it for me for the convenience of being able to play SMB2 on the Wii which I always have hooked up, vs. having to hook up my old NES even though I own one and also the SMB2 cartridge. It's cheaper than buying a new 72-pin connector and opening the NES and installing it so that the screen doesn't flash.

Where I do agree with the argument against VC games is if people are buying a ton of them, like 20 or more VC games. Then, it would probably be cheaper in the long run to get the actual console + games off Ebay. But then, you still need to have the console hooked up, through the right connectors, to play the game.

In reality, I would rather emulate most games rather than mess with VC, but for a few classics I would play very often, such as SMB2, it's nice to have the option.

He said rereleased. I think he ment like SNES games that were ported to PS1 or handhelds. Not the actual originals.

I decided to purchase these games because, I think, they really deserve respect.

- Ninja Spirit (TurboGrafx)
- Kirby's Adventure (NES)
- Kid Icarus (NES)
- Gunstar Heroes (Megadrive/Genesis)
- Bonk's Adventure (TurboGrafx)

Gunstar Heroes is a given - 100% Treasure goodness. Kid Icarus and Ninja Spirit are hard games, but I like them a lot. I didn't end up completing Kid Icarus years ago so now's the time to do so. Kirby's Adventure because it's Kirby. And his adveture.

Bonk's Adventure holds a special place in my heart, dearly because my mother had an American friend who's brother owned a TurboGrafx and a bunch of games. Every fortnight, she'd visit him and I'd get to play some TurboGrafx stuff. Really odd because the console never came out here (I was only 8 at the time, I thought the console wasn't out here because it was unsuccessful).

Anyway, we played Bonk's Adventure quite a lot. So sure, why not?

I skipped purchasing Streets of Rage 2 since it's on Xbox Live now. I figure for value for money it just isn't worth it - same with Ecco, which is now out for Live.

Well I don't know why he thinks certain things like Square having their own channel for their good SNES games or whatever but classics like Chrono Trigger and Secret of Mana still hold up very well to today's games and could easily be remade or repackaged and still make a good deal of money. Square did shut down the 3D Chrono Trigger fan remake a while back so it doesn't seem like they're quite through milking the series even though they have not given a clear indication of doing so. The Seiken Densetsu series is always a troubling one. Although Sword was a remake of Final Fantasy Adventure there has been no remake or port of the meat and bones of the series which is Secret. It's just another one of those lingering IPs that Square seems to be sitting on. With FF4 being remade it wouldn't surprise me if Square decides that the formula would work with the rest of its popular past titles. So those things make me believe too that Chrono Trigger and Secret of Mana and other games they've ported/remade to the DS or GBA might never make Virtual Console in fear that it would take away sales of ports/remakes out in the current market. I suppose they don't expect people to buy the original on VC and remakes on DS/PSP to get a taste of two different yet similar experiences. Their loss I guess but it is just them being cautious.

Fixed. Before anyone jumps down my throat about how all companies are out to make profit. I understand that. But there is a difference between trying to make profit and being greedy jerks.

Well it would be less greedy if say Square were to release the original NES version of FF3 even though that might affect FF3 DS sales. It would allow choice. But hell at this point since all this shit is 10/20 years old imo they ought to just give it out for free but pah they'll never ever do that. You know what would be smart? If companies would give out free wii points that would only go towards games they have on the Virtual Console. Say you buy Crystal Chronicles Wii when it comes out and inside is a card for VC Square-Enix games which uh is for uh ActRaiser at this point. It would be a nice reward but nah Nintendo is too dumb to offer up some sort of reward program that anyone would care about. Best they've had was the Zelda compilation discs. Hurrah. =/

Releasing it on VC for $5 or $8 is alot less greedy then porting the game to yet another system and charging $30+ for it. Which is essentially why Square is being so slow to contribute anything. They may not say it, but considering how many ports and remakes they put out it's horribly obvious.
