There's a bit of a difference there unfortunately...Nintendo owns the Donkey Kong characters but not the James Bond ones.

I guess you're right but its going to be like trying to push a rock and a house, I'm positive Nintendo wouldn't allow Microsoft to release Goldeneye and I don't know if Microsoft would let Nintendo release Goldeneye

ActRaiser. <3
I still think Nintendo is fucking retarded on this release strategy. FOUR N64 games 6 months after the Wii came out? What in the fuck.

I'm surprised that they've yet to fix the 50Hz bug that plagues most PAL Virtual Console games.
Every title is hindered by this limit (and thus plays only at that irritatingly slow pace, with black borders), except Turbografx games which are the only ones to output correctly in 480i/480p. It would only take a firmware update to enable Progressive Scan and 60Hz smoothness for PAL consumers as well. I really wonder if Nintendo even noticed this flaw. ![]() |

Ooh, Kid Chameleon. That game has a very nice concept, but it gets a little monotonous after the first 20 levels. Look, if a game if going to have 90+ levels, the least that the developers could do is not re-use level backgrounds to the point of boredom.

If they aren't on Virtual Console, they cannot be purchased.

I kind of find that ridiculous. Why should we in theory have to wait for Super Metroid for 4 years. That doesn't make all that much sense. I think part of the spacing is making all the manuals that come with VC games plus making them go through the ESRB. There are a good deal that have gone through the ESRB though so the big hold up would be the manuals. I say that we should have most of the library out within a year with a few stragglers here and there the year after and the rest of the VC releases being original titles or other uncharted waters like Saturn or SNK titles. People are going to get fed up with a trickle of games.

Yeah, when the VC was announced, I thought that Nintendo was going to post nearly their entire ROM set for download/purchase. If they did that, they would be rolling in money I am sure.

Regarding the release strategy I believe I understand Nintendo's logic.
#1 They don't want the VC to overshadow Wii software sales. If they roll out all of the A+ titles people will just be content playing their mound of 5 and $10 titles. #2 Saturation. The way that the current titles are rolled out they're more of an impulse buy. 5-$10 a week doesn't seem like much. If everything were to be posted up from the outlet people would be much more conscious of spending $100 or more in one chunk. #3 Lastly with Nintendo eeking out the games some of the B and C titles are likely to be purchased. A game like Kung-Fu (don't know if it's an actual title) is more likely to be seen as a novelty pickup for the week. If it were up against all the Marios, Zeldas, Castlevanias etc, it would be easily overlooked. As a long-term strategy I believe Nintendo is correct. |
