Well I wouldn't say it's a combo game. There's lots of things to concider like tech traps, mix ups, set ups, and oki.

If you get hit with Devil Jin's eye beam, you deserve the damage it does. Same goes with any unblockable. It's not abusable at all. Just duck it. If it's the flying version, side step it.

Best character I can recommend for beginners is Paul. All you gotta know first is Quarter Circle Forward (fireball motion) + Triangle. You can pick up everything else as you play more.

I'm purposly not using the Zaibatsu legend so new players can understand the inputs i'm saying. Down + Square + Triangle for Paul is awesome though. Just not abusable. Phoenix Smasher isn't abusable either. Best for whiff punishment.

I so love Lili! I really dig her and all her acrobatic move! i love character that use more kick attack than fist. Every move with her is awesome XD but I see she can be really easily counter so I'm pretty sure vs a good player I would get owned but still she's just so much fun to play ^^

Hey, I'm sure that a lot of people who were interested in how to get two customization profiles, one for each player on the one PS Account have already figured it out, but because I've already been asked by a couple of people as to how to do this I thought I would post the steps here for all who want to know can see.

1.) Create a SECOND PS Account
2.) Start Tekken: DR, create a profile, and save.
3.) Copy the save file from this Account to your primary PS Account
4.) Delete second PS Account if you wish
5.) Start Tekken: DR and each profile should be set to their respective players

It's weird that the game supports the dual profiles but how you have to have them both saved under one account. Oh well, now everyone knows how to do it. Good luck and post if you have any problems.

Damn. That's some nice Nina skillz there from your friend. I wish the people around here would play that good. Would be a damn fine challenge. But sadly, no one around here knows how to defeat a Roger Jr. -sigh-

Getting good with Raven again since he hasn't played it since the days of 5 for ps2.So is it worth to fight online? Any of you that is ^^;. My name is NighttimeVulture. Tekken so desperately needs to be online. Around here, and I don't know how it is with other states, arcades are a dying thing.

Actually he moves around too much for his own good, and does launchers WAY too much. I now take advantage of that. Hopefully we both learn from our mistakes and get better.

That's the problem with local play with just the few set of friends ya got when playing Tekken. You eventually learn each other's style so it becomes a huge block fest. Hopefully we'll be seeing online with Tekken this year or announcment of it.

Oh there's a huge variety at the local arcade near me. It makes it easier to improve here than in most other places. Sadly it's also the reason the East Coast is looked down upon by other top players. They think the quality of competition should be better because of the variety of people.

Goodness. It's time to bump this thread for good reasons.

http://sdtekken.com/2007/08/01/t5dr-online-impressions/

Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection ONLINE is finally up on both the Japanese & Hong Kong PlayStation Stores! SD TEKKEN got a couple hours of hands-on time with the upgrade and we are VERY pleased! US fans don’t fret! T5DR ONLINE will be coming out in North America mid August! Click below for our impressions and some details regarding the upgrade!

Hi everyone, it’s MarkMan again… Just wanted to throw in my two cents on T5DR ONLINE. I downloaded the full 2,800 Yen version off the Japanese PS Store as soon as it went online, the first thing I did after I installed the 550 MB game was jump online.

The first thing I wanted to figure out was whether or not people outside of Japan could play against each other online. Fortunately, YES it is possible to play people all over the world with this version of T5DR ONLINE! I played a few matches against Japanese and Korean players then finally hooked up with some American players to test how the gameplay would fare.

I played a few matches with Tekken Zaibatsu’s very own MrWizard and we both came across a mutual agreement that T5DR ONLINE was definitely playable and as a matter of fact, the lag/latency was pretty good for a fighting game. Later in the evening I tested extensively with SD TEKKEN members Empty H4nd and Ace R., the result is a bit mixed. But overall one thing is for sure, the game is playable and the lag doesn’t make you want to slam your controller on the floor(as long as both you and your opponent have good connections).

The lag would vary from match to match but often times we would have matches that were close to perfect. I used a variety of characters & I was able to do land juggles that would require precise timing… that really surprised me.

Unless you have an awesome WiFi signal I would recommend that you use a wired internet connection when playing T5DR ONLINE. Personally I found that wired was a big enough improvement over the PS3’s WiFi signal to warrant the change.

Aside from the ONLINE portion of the game there is also an updated title screen, survival mode, and the always important practice mode! The practice mode is similar to that of Tekken 5 on PS2 and even has the command capture feature, defensive training, and hit analysis that we all know and love!

Should you wait until the US version comes out? It’s really up to you. You shouldn’t be asking me this because I am a Tekken freak and would have bought it the first day no matter what. The US version is slated for mid August which sets it up for around Thursday, August 16th. If you can wait that long, do so… if not find out how to get it from either the HK or JPN PS stores!

...that leaves the question, who's ready to get their Tekken on later this month?

I downloaded the Japanese version and good god is it unplayable. Although the closest guy I got to play with was in New Jersey, and i'm in NYC. I'll reserve full judgement for when the US version comes out though.

Pfft... ALL fighting games over the net are LAGGY. And from what I've heard from some people's experiance Tekken Online has some of the most stable net code to date for a fighting game.

Which is why I never understood this huge outcry for online play in fighting games. Sure it's a good idea. But until we actually get net code that runs at an optimal pace I don't think developers should obey the people on this one.

Also don't forget that online play takes away from the rest of the game's dev time. No wonder all the SC4 news is sounding like crap, because they're creating an online mode. But I'll save the rest of this rant for a more appropriate place. However my point stands that even if Tekken Online is the BEST online fighting game (have yet to play it), it's still going to suck for the officianotos who play the game for real. (Like you and I)

Oh well, I'm still going to get the update for the new modes, and a hopefully tear free 1080 display support. (Maybe the weird flat tone effect will also be removed from the two levels that had the issue, wasn't in the original AC game)
