See, it pays to make judgments in context. For thoes who don't know what I'm talking about, I'm talking about thoes people who said that Sony were asses for not servicing "that" PS3 that was too dusty to repair.

Well here's the pictures, would you want to touch it? I sure as hell wouldn't and whoever treats their stuff like this deserves to lose their console.

Granted, dust doesn't really constitute a threat to someone's health, especially considering all the methods one could use to clear dust, but that amount of filth is pretty much considered negligent abuse by any electronics manufacturer.

I'd say that indirect abuse and laziness at its finest.

Hahaha, wow, yea I take back my comment then. That's clearly consumer's neglect, however I wouldn't classify it as "life threatening", but definitely not good. When I read the article I was under assumption that the collected dust was internally in the system, I didn't think the guy was so lazy as to not keep the outside of it clean.

Too bad there's no ICO or Ace Combat themes. Haha pretty sweet how there's a Gears of War theme though.

Ohhh man, I don't want to see the look of his house.

A few days ago my Ps3 arrived. But I was soooo lucky that I got a defective one. Yep, my worst fear became true. It seems that the GPU is defective or something. If anyone knows something about this let me know:
Spoiler:

I'm doing my best not to return the console, since the international shipping cost is very high. But if it's the gpu, i have no other choice but to return it.

How are the odds? Really?!

Ouch, I know what you mean about international shipping... heh, sometimes it's better to buy a new product than return it.

But my Ps3 is new and I won't buy another one since 600 dollars for american people is like 1800 dollars for us. It's a 60gb model. I need to send it back so it can be replaced for another one (and i will need to pay the freaking shippment again). The shipping is not THAT high, but it's a pain in the ass to wait for another two months for my new ps3.

It's very strange all this. I've found only one video of a guy with the same problem. I didn't find any other ps3 with the same issue.

Well that's just it. With such a decent cooling system within the PS3 a fried GPU is 90% likely to be manufacture caused rather then caused when in use. (hope that made sense) So it's probably not going to be very common or well documented.

This may do absolutely nothing, but see if you can update the firmware, therefore if it is software caused it may fix matters. However I'm still most certain that it's a faulty GPU. But it's worth a try no?

Wah I didnt mean your ps3... I would returned it too!. (and yeah 600 for them, like 2x-3x for us... heh)

Anyways, too bad this is happening to you... I heard that the ps3 came very well and very few people have problems with it.

In any case, Good luck!

I'm 99% sure that the half-naked anime girl in the corner is creating the interference, but just in case it isn't, do you want to tell us how you are hooking it up to the TV.

It could actually be the HDMI bugging out.

I tried HDMI, composite and component. I also updated to firmware 2.0

If I turn the ps3 on and leave it downloading demos, it doesn't freeze. I left it for 6 hours and worked great. But when I start messing around with the XMB or try to play ANY demo or game, the system freezes and starts to make all those pixel noise. Sometimes I can still hear the music and sound effects, but after a few minutes it completely freezes. I can play for 10 minutes before it freezes.

There is no overheat at all and I don't have any elecricity problems in the house.

I believe that there is definitely something wrong inside the machine since i tried everything.

Or as Megalith said, it could just be a plastic figure doing the interference

This is a video from a guy who had the same problem: Click

Anyways, I'm sending it tomorrow.

I could theorize a couple things based off what you said, but nothing that's a quick or simple fix so unfortunately it does look like you're going to have to send it in.

Yeah I did, and last night was the first night that I did not get the white screen in Assassin's Creed. So it must have done something.

Now that you mentioned the white screen, This weird color glitch would show up after I finish playing a ps2/3 game and move onto the menu screen. It doesn't do it anymore then.

I asked this one question a long time ago but does anyone here get no sound in the menu after you play a ps2 game (cd-rom/blue colored disk). PS1 and ps2 games(only dvd-rom/silver colored disks) works fine and doesn't do anything weird to the ps3.

Oh ok. I think it wouldn't matter anyway because the only game that does that is Marvel vs Capcom 2. Maybe it's too old of a game.

I'll have to try that out and let you know then. I have the game, just stopped playing it because of its music mostly.
