Just what I said. You technically can't play PS2 games directly (only PSOne games). You have to download them from the PS Network Store. Like what you do with the Virtual Console games on the Wii Shop Channel.
80GB though, however, suggests that only some PS2 games you can play directly. As it's still limited. ![]() ~Fav Radiant Dawn Character~

you clearly don't know what you're talking about zeta >.> because there's NO ps2 game in the ps store. the games that are in the ps store are either ps1 games that you can play on psp and ps3 or arcade games, like the xbox live arcades... beside that you must have a 60gb or 80gb version to play ps2 games on ps3.
|
|
I think what zeta is trying to say is that it only plays the PS1 games that are downloaded from the PS store. I'm not sure if thats true or not, I just think the 40gb version is stupid.
Does Sony even work on getting more PS2 games compatible with the 80GB model or are they just bullshitting and just made released an update once thats it? Doesn't matter to me, I got the 60gb but I'm just wondering since the 60gb models aren't being made and who knows if I ever need buy an 80gb model. I also bought a blu-ray movie today, and it's the first time I was watching a blu-ray movie. Damn the quality is great, but damn the price.

I think we're all safe with the 60gb model
![]() Hmmm.... I've been thinking.... I would like for Sony to add the option to show the date and time (or just the time itself) when we go to the PS Menu anytime. Just like the screen we get when we push the Home button on the PSP. We get a date and time... And maybe even have a clock fixed in the main XMB menu... Just my two cents... ![]()

Secondly, the 40 gig PS3 can play any PSX games, whether they are on disc or downloaded from the store. The 40 gig PS3 has the necessary hardware to make that happen. Third, according to the several members here who have the 80 gig models, the software backwards compatibility is pretty solid, with a very large percentage of games supported, so if you simply cannot locate a 60 gig, it wouldn't be the end of the world to get an 80 gig. Again, according to the several members here with that model. Did someone call my name?

Hey, I only followed what's been said in the official PlayStation magazine and in the official PlayStation site. And what I said is true, just look up wikipedia.

K, to give you the gist;
here's a list that Wikipedia compiled History of PS3 models 20GB - Yes 40GB - No 60GB - Yes 80GB - Yes (Software Emulation, which Future's PlayStation magazine calls it "Limited") ![]() ~Fav Radiant Dawn Character~

I'm not sure what you're trying to get at, but here's the facts.
-40Gb PS3 has no PS2 software emulation. So whether you could download PS2 games or not (which you can't as of now) there is no emulation software on the system to run them at this time. -80Gb PS3 has NO hardware emulation and only has 100% software emulation. Therefore no Emotion Engine, no nothing and can still play 95% of PS2 games. -60/20Gb PS3s HAVE PS2 hardware within and can play 98+% of PS2 games. |

Dude. Why won't you listen to us? This is the last time I am saying this.
I have had my PS3 since day 1 and as of this date there are still no PS2 games on the PSN that you can download and play. And I'm including ALL region's PSNs. There are no such things. I know that Sony have said in the past that they'd like to make PS2 games downloadable via PSN. But considering all the work ahead of them with HOME. No such developments on downloadable PS2 games will likely be made within the next year. |
|
Zeta26, I'm sorry to have to say this, but you are a fucking retard.
There is no way to download a Playstation 2 game onto a PS3 to play. If you have the 20GB, 60GB or 80GB models, you can insert a Playstation 2 format disc and play, but you cannot download any PS2 game onto a PS3. Now please, for the love of God, stop posting about it. ![]() |

Anyways. I was think of this question too, like what Kimichi had, seeing as I got $200 (bonus) and another $100 (December's check). As I'm just about close to getting a 40GB, but yet am $200 away from the 80GB.

I know that it's a loosely based reason to post this here. However unless someone wants to create an "HD-DVD VS Blu-Ray" thread I'm posting this here. (yes, I'm that lazy)
However I feel that now that the power has been shifted influentually in one competator's direction that the market will support that said format out of sheer want for a single standard, and not so much for actual format superiority. (fortunately the winning format is the better one in my opinion) |
But anyways, there was a blu-ray vs. hd-dvd thread in media centre but the topic creator was an hd-dvd fanboy to the extreme and ended up closing the thread when a few people expressed support for blu-ray. Did someone call my name?

God damn it. Ah well thanks for pointing that out. It makes more sense now. I understood what it was saying, I just thought they said it wrong.
8 hours of class and 5 hours at work can start to get to you after a while. |

Back when I was running a shitty forum (cause the owner was a tranny and was nutting over the Wii which he still doesn not own), there were loads of people saying blu-ray would fail as soon as it would come out and dragging the PS3 along with it. I seriously wish that forum was still up so I could post all these articles about the PS3 doing better than HD-DVD.
They should bring the Skype feature to the PS3 like they did with the PSP. I would actually like them to include AIM on the PS3. |
