My PC doesn't have the ballz for this game so i'm unable to play it. If you would like, could some of you rip a few tracks of the music? I'd really like to hear Brandon's music and see if he still has the force

Downloading at the moment. ![]() |

It's a bit unfortunate, but not surprising that the game does not have the righer graphics settings, not surprising considering the size. Oh well, have to settle for a mere gameplay demo ^^
Something's better then nothing. UPDATE: Played 4 matches in the demo. I'm running ALL details at MAX Resolution at 1440x900 V-sync ON Hardware Physics ON (yes, I have a PhysX card) And I have to say. This is one of the best running games on my PC todate. LOL.... but seriously, it's true. It runs at about 70FPS, except when like 8 people are all firing at once with the debris flying everywhere, then it's more like 28FPS. STill though... WoW. Also the load time is about 10-15 seconds for 8bot games. I just can't believe it's running this good. This is some of the best coding of a PC game in YEARS. And it's only a BETA demo. AMAZING! |

I didn't play around with the settings much so I can't tell you in pratice what happened. In theory all that would happen though is that you'd get some lame explosion effects, and other things similar to games that use Havok and other propriatary software. Where PhysX has total realtime imulations, so that the effects not only animate differently every time in realtime. But fully interact with the enviroment, reducing clipping and CPU usage for this feature by drastic amounts.
As for the gameplay. It plays great. The movement is UT99. And any weapons like the BioRifle and what not that didn't feel right in 2K3/2K4 have been set back to UT99 performance. Other things like the minigun are mostly the same to UT99. Great mix of countless features. Too much to explain. But I have no real complaints to speak of at this time. *This post has not been spell checked* UPDATE Just briefly going over core files of the demo and finding some neat little things. Nothing earth shaking however. First; I have found an ogg.dll file in the binaries folder, meaning that the game WILL be using ogg format for it's music as usual. The Engine support for Unreal ED and Unreal Script seem to be intact, though not included though. (possible user maps for the demo?) The UE3 seems to throw out your standard texture+lighting method of graphics for a much larger shader focus for the majority of the textures are stored as such. (explains why the textures in Gears and UT3 appear to "pop" in instantly approximately one second after the level has been loaded) Finally there seems to be a relatively abundant file called "stats" which appear to be just that. Stats of your computer's performance while running the game. So if this is the info sent to Epic, and whether the transfer takes place whether you're online or off I'm not sure. But I am positive that you have to be logged in before anything is transfered to their servers. Finally; there does not appear to be any music within the demo... period. Or at least I don't remember hearing it while playing it, and there are definately not ogg files or anything of the like in the install directory. If I find anything more out I'll be sure to post. |

I don't know man. The graphics look pretty damn good on my system. However I noticed when running the game in my non-native resolution it looked really fuzzy (1280x768) but when I put it in 1440x900 (native) it looked a TON more clearer. I know that higher res = crisper picture. But it should NOT have made as large of a difference as it did. Also the game only goes up to "High" World and Character textures. No "Very High" or "Ultra High" in the demo. And this is because it is a Beta and not a consumer Demo. Don't be confused, it's not the same thing.
P.S. I payed attention this time and there IS music in the Beta. Thing is it changes tracks depending on what's going on. Exploring or Combat. So as to where the hell these files are right now I have no bloody clue. |

I'm pleased so far with what I've seen. Not to say things are perfect, and not to say I'm getting the game (because, as I mentioned, my computer can't take it at full-spec), but the gameplay feels a lot more like UT99 than the last two iterations did.

It plays like '99 but with some good and tasty additions.
Fuck, even the minigun fails in comparison with the new stinger minigun. The primary fire is rapid-fire but the second one is shot in chunks. AWESOME. Darkwalker is a blast to ride in and have fun too. The look of the weapons are just cool. Enjoying the new stinger minigun's look as well as the Redeemer's look (I mean, a control station and a missile attached. Totally took me by surprise too). The comments after you (or someone) gets killed aren't one-liners (or extremely short liners) now. Also players in the capture the flag now describe where the enemy steals the flag and where the fighting is. Fuck, want to upgrade this PC badly to enjoy this game to its fullest. Damn. Also can't find the music ANYWHERE. What's going on. ![]() |

Yeah the screenshots arent doing it justice and people keep criticizing the graphics even though there are players out there that dont meet the recommended specs lol
