This from the person who keeps assuring me that $10 for dinky little XBLA games isn't overpriced at all? Make up your mind already.
Most XBLA titles have some sort of multiplayer component, which adds lots of life (except for those titles that no one plays anymore, which sucks). Plus there's 200 achievements points, which may be sad, but it's a slight incentive nonetheless. I'll just play LostWinds next time I'm at your place for a week.

Crystal Chronicles would be tempting if it wasn't so expensive. I might as well just buy the DS game and not worry about it being a constant expense. Not to mention I already had to delete the Internet Channel to make room for these. Where is my external HDD, Nintendo?
The WiiWare and DS games are completely different genres, not remotely comparable. As previously mentioned, with all the downloadable content, the title would run you $38, which isn't bad considering this sounds like a deep game comparable to a full disc title. Also, I've heard that much of the content isn't even useful until you've reached an advanced level, so you don't need to plunk down the money right away.

Seconding this sentiment. A lot of what makes that shit great is the online component. Case in point, the TMNT arcade port that came stock with 4 player online, which provided endless nights of hilarious ass fun. You get more out of XBLA games with online than the price they make you pay for 'em most of the time.

Speaking of which, any chance that any of these er... outstanding titles will have online play?

I was very close to buying LostWinds last night, but I saw it was very short (not surprising) and that there weren't enough opinions on it. I went with Paper Mario just to be on the safe side with my 1000 Wii Points.

Yeah a few of them are, Doctor Mario, Alien Crush, Tetris and Bomberman are. There are more I just can't think of their names.

That's just it though. With the exception of the first week it's out, 9 times out of 10 no one plays these games online and it's nothing but a wasted feature. With Bomberman, for instance, there's usually maybe one game going when I try and it's private. Sure there are plenty that are worth the $10 pricetag, but considering the vast majority that aren't it seems hypocritical to say that's too much for a good game that lasts only 3-4 hours.

You need more friends to play with then. I've played through stuff like Metal Slug 3, Double Dragon, and Assault Heroes with multiple GFFers, several play throughs each, which leads to way greater than 3-4 hours of playtime over the course of several weeks.

Dr. Mario and Tetris online are always a welcome addition though.

So did anyone here get Dr. Mario Online Rx? I bought the game the other day and tried out the online stuff. Pretty damn awesome, I think. Messaging system is a lot like Mario Kart Wii's setup where you select from a handful of generic phrases.
And the best part? Probably four players messing with each other in Virus Buster =D.

Anyway, if any of you want to play against me, my FC is: 1833-3700-1873 <-- FYI, this is the Dr. Mario Rx FC

(Or hey, if you want me to send you a demo version just let me know!)

I was really in doubt if I should get that or Star Soldier R, but I went with the latter in the end (and it's great). I figured I'd rather just play the original NES version instead. I might get it soon though, Dr. Mario is my favorite puzzler ever. AND THEN YOU'RE ON

How do you go about sending a demo version? I'd like one, my FC is 8039 5257 2174 3082 (EDIT3: er, unless the game has a separate FC? Since I just noticed your code is only 12 digits, not the usual 16). I'll add you later.

EDIT2: what about zones? I'm in Europe. Does that matter?

I haven't bought it yet, but I plan to. The more I thought about it, I figured I'd wait and see how many GFF people bought it first since $10 is a bit much for Dr. Mario unless there are actually people to play the online mode with.

I have my eyes on Dr. Mario Online Rx so I'll get it this weekend.

You/People could send demo of the game? Why couldn't Nintendo just let people download a demo version from the shop channel instead? o.O

I-- I honestly don't know. It would make sense to do that.
Xbox live arcade does that with their games. Hell, I don't think I would've bought half of their games if they never offered a trail version.

Oh, we need to first trade each other's Wii FC in order for you to recieve the demo from me. But I have no idea if it'll work since you're in a different region from me.
But if it does work all we have to do then is trade FCs in Dr. Mario Rx and we're set for online =p.

I'll PM you my Wii FC to get things started.

You can only gift the demo to people in your own region, from what I've read. I haven't entered any friends codes yet, but I haven't had a problem finding people randomly online. My friend code is 9731-1016-5623.

Hah, I just turned off my Wii a little while ago. I'll add you by tomorrow nutty. And about the region thing. Is it supposed to give me a error message or anything? Because from what I can see the demo I sent to surasshu went through on my end =p.

edit:
You're right nutty, surasshu got the message with the demo but wasn't able to load it. Not available in Europe and all that.
