2.7 is also required to download and play the free Loco Roco demo that is out now. The game kicks some serious ass, but I just can't give up my Snes9x, ScummVM and LUA homebrew.
As of now, there is no exploit to enable homebrew on a 2.7 firmware PSP. This is a warning. |

I'm in the same boat as you. I'm also tempted to upgrade my PSP for all the fancy features, but I'm not sure I want to give up being able to play NES, SNES, Genesis, etc games.
I haven't really checked the homebrew scene in a while, though. Have they found a way to make SNES games run less choppy? The only games that ran perfect for me were NES ones. |

With the latest Snes9x TYL (0.3), I can play almost all games with full speed even on 2.6 firmware via Fanjita's GTA eLoader. I hear it runs even faster on 1.5 with kernel access mode.
2.7 doesn't really bring a lot of useful new features, actually. I hear flash support is very basic (supports only Flash 6, so no fancy animation, games or video) and choppy, the web browser still has annoying memory issues and the podcast features and RSS support was already introduced in the previous firmwares. |

Mega frown~my GTA copy arbitrarily decided to stop working, thus eliminating emulation. I keep getting a "disc cannot be read" error which pops up after like 15 minutes of trying to read it. It was working fine two weeks ago but when I decided to play recently, and it magically acquired scratches or something from just sitting the case

Unless they changed the Giga Pack price since I last heard of it...

Normal roms work...a working snes emulator should be on the compatibility list at Fanjita's Place, since those are specially tailored to the PSP.

Is no one happy about Tekken 5: DR hitting the PSP? The game looks like it's shaping up pretty well. Granted, it would be better off on the PS2, but I can't wait for it! Especially, the customization mode. In the arcade (in Japan at least) you needed to pay $3 a month for a Tekken.Net subscription in order to modify your character.

Big news? Didn't you hear about Brooktown High: Senior Year. Huge. I want it, at least.
According to Gamespot, Tekken 5: DR on PSP looks pretty close to the PS2 Tekken 5, which was pretty damn good. Also, Vice City Stories was announced, if you're a GTA fan. |
![]() ![]() Here I was hoping it would be some localized version of Tokimeki Memorial or something like that, but instead it's some 3D ugly-ass Western trash. I'd probably have more fun playing a flash-based dating sim over at Newgrounds than this. Even Sprung for the DS had more appealing graphics. |
