I'm currently playing Monster Hunter: Freedom (just came out in US today).
Fun game. I didn't like the PS2 version, but this one is more impressive because it's essentially a portable offline MMORPG (and the graphics are superb). I can see putting a lot of hours into this improving my weapons and making kickass armor. I'm considering Lemmings and Field Commander, too. |

Gamespot has a new feature discussing the PSP:
http://www.gamespot.com/features/6152212/index.html It's an embarrassment in my opinion, as most of them have clearly not been following with the latest PSP games. They continue to mention Lumines, Lumines, Lumines, and Burnout Legends gets way too much credit. X-men Legends 2 was just as good a port as Burnout Legends. Worst for me though, is that there is no mention of what is in my opinion the best PSP game available, Syphon Filter.

Is anyone looking forward to Blade Dancer? It comes out July.
EDIT: The only release I can think of for this month is The Legend of Heroes 2 (psp). Is there anything else interesting? I plan to get Loh2.I've yet to play Tales of Eternia for the psp.. EDIT 2 : I got Y's for the psp. Anyone else? I didn't touch it yet so i want to know what everyone thinks. This is the first time im playing a Y's game. |

I have the PS2 version of Y's. It's average to below average. Think old style Zelda game(the 8-Bit NES and SNES game). Although to be honest it reminds me more of Crystalis if you're familiar with that one from the NES. Three upgradable swords, subpar graphics, music that you'll never remember, lots of hack&slash. I hear the PSP version of it has a lot of slow down compared to the PS2 version so be ready for that.
On my end, the next two games I'm planning for the PSP are Gradius Collection and Field Commander. The last game I purchased for my PSP was Generation of Chaos. Think Dragonforce with improvements in some areas and serious deficiencies in others. In specific when you get two armies which have strong defenses against each other battles can take way too long. Also the AI is stupid sometimes and loses battles it should win because of said stupidity(although to be fair Dragonforce did that sometimes too). And completely user unfriendly. The manual is a total mess and if you can't figure out the game on your own(and a lot of the concepts unfortunately aren't explained) you're going to face some problems. |

This is probably why i got the game for only 25 bucks. The loadings times are bad. The music (to me ) is great o.o;;... and so far, this main character doesn't talk for shit. Other than that , im kinda enjoying it. I'll just kill time with this when the following games come out.
Legend of Heroes 2 Blade Lancer (or Dancer -- whatever) Spectral Souls. |
Just curious. |

Okay. So Gamespot gave Field Commander a rating of 8.4, and they gave Advance Wars: Dual Strike a 9.2. IGN gave Advance Wars a 9, and they also gave Field Commander a rating of 8.4. I could be wrong, but I think both websites are telling me that Advance Wars: Dual Strike is a better game. So how is it "more than comparable" to a game which you 1) haven't played and 2) isn't as highly rated as Okay, that was retarded. You should know that ratings don't make up for your own judgment and enjoyment of a game. But if you compare a game such as Field Commander, released in the US in May of this year, to a game which was released almost a year ago, you're basically defeating the purpose of comparisons. What, do you expect older games just to get better with age? Some do. But you can't blame them if they don't. |
Aside from Blade Dancer we also have Spectral Souls to look into. Saw a few screens. another must get .. The Y's game is amazing. I never played the ps2 version but thanks for letting me know about the differences. The psp has weak loading times but the only thing that saves the game is the gameplay and the music is just amazing. Its definately worth the get since its only 25-30 bucks at any store. It's definately a reasonable price so no one can argue with it. Field Commander -... MAYbe i'll get it. not sure Kingdom of Paradise ? Its on clearance at my job so i'll probably get it. I thought it sucked cause of the lame cover art lol. How's Generation of Chaos? Yeah.. I already know about Tales of Eternia.. Im just looking for a place that sells cheaper. |

To be fair to field commander, a lot of sites that gave it lower ratings than Advanced Wars were commenting on it being a blatent Advanced Wars ripoff. I only remember one magazine giving a reason other than that for it's lower score(they said that the AI for Field Commander is pretty poor...that same article also said that Field Commander on the other hand had a better multiplayer setup in general than Advanced Wars). Advanced Wars might be better. Field Commander might be. Or it could just be a matter of personal preference. The problem being that when the reason given for a lower score is "ripoff of another game with a few tweaks" you can't really judge it from the magazine alone.

Ignore Kingdom of Paradise's ungodly bad cover art (its got a reversible cover) and play the game. Graphically, it looks fantastic. The attack animations are smooth and the lighting effects are nice, especially when you're using Chi Arts. The voice acting is also surprisingly solid -- no real VA blunders are present. Some of the voices might get on your nerves, but the characters they're associated with would do the same with the mute button on. I wish more people would play KoP. It really deserves a sequel, and it's got a fantastic story that would lend itself to another game quite easily. ![]() Reading -- Bleach, Claymore, Chun Rhang Yhur Jhun, NOW, Zero: Beginning of the Coffin, Black God, Twelve Kingdoms (novels), History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi Watching -- Bleach Playing -- Fable II, Valkyria Chronicles, Guitar Hero: World Tour, Star Ocean: First Departure, LittleBigPlanet, MegaMan 9, Mirror's Edge |
Great..Then i'll cop' the game tomorrow. I swear i was getting ready to draw a picture with that character (only more badass and some detail) and use that as a cover art... o.o; As long as the gameplay is good then i'll get it. It kinda reminded me of Legend of legaia for some odd reason. |

I went and looked up Spectral Souls just to see what it was about. It doesn't come out until October in the US, but more importantly, it's an Idea Factory game.
I.F. is the same company who did Generation of Chaos and ported it to the PSP. So the answer to Spectral Souls is most likely a good, solid, en-oh no. GoC left such a bad impression on me that I came damn near close to banning Idea Factory from my checking account for life. ![]() Reading -- Bleach, Claymore, Chun Rhang Yhur Jhun, NOW, Zero: Beginning of the Coffin, Black God, Twelve Kingdoms (novels), History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi Watching -- Bleach Playing -- Fable II, Valkyria Chronicles, Guitar Hero: World Tour, Star Ocean: First Departure, LittleBigPlanet, MegaMan 9, Mirror's Edge |

About Spectral Souls...
I've heard it has HORRIBLE load times between every action. If they fix the load times for the domestic release, then maybe it'll be a purchase. If not, it's just another wasted PSP RPG. |
