Hey guys. I still feel bad about my noobish questions so bare with me here.

I just aquired a used PSP with firmware 2.82 it is also a TA-082 board

Is this hackable? And if so how?
A simple point to a site with documentation on how and if you could tell me what the reccomended firmware is it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again guys.

UPDATE:
Already I already figured out that I need to do the Lumines downgrade which is no problem. I've got the tools and instructions from PSP-Hacks.

Last thing I need to know is what firmware should I install on the PSP after I downgrade to Sony 1.50? Any reccomendations?

Whatever you do, go and upgrade to 3.52-m33-4 CFW. 3.71 has some major issues and it aint complete. Most of us still use 3.40 OE or lower.

I had to downgrade because I wasn't able to play a few homebrew emulators correctly. 3.52 is great for everything including if you plan to play neo geo roms on a mvs emu. Unfortunate for 3.71 , I can't play my rage of the dragons so I had to downgrade.

If you want to go up to 3.52, Just go through page 40-whatever and find my post that gives you a simple ass instruction =]

EDIT : As for you're firmware.. I thought if you had 2.82, You can use GTA:LCS (not the greatest hits). If you have that, use it.

Which one is easier man, cause I own both non-GH games?

UPDATE
I've successfully got 3.52-M33-4. And currently copying over an ISO. Didn't expect it to be 1.03Gb. Is there a way to compress these things?

Anyone know where I can get SNES, Neo-Geo, etc. emulators?

UPDATE!
I've found something called DAX ZISO V0.62(latest?) which is supposed to compress and then play compressed ISOs. Problem is, I can't get the little bugger to work. Anyone else have experiance with this program?

Thanks again for everything guys.

DAX ZISO is for users that needed to use dev-hook. In your situation, I can't imagine you needing to use that. Just put the ISO's in the ISO folder.

compressed iso's can be decompressed/compressed with this tool.

As for emulators....

Alright then. Thanks.

For my next problem. How the hell do you get NeoGeo PSP RX2 to work? I have a KoF 2002 ROM folder which has like 16ROM files in it (is that normal?). And I have both a BIOS and a ubiversal BIOS file.

I select the icon and the program begins to boot doing the PSP logo thing, and then it comes up with an error almost right away. I'm sure I didn't even install it right due to poor documentation.

Is there a (properly) working SNES emulator for the PSP Slim? I tried snes9xTYL-0.4.2me_fw3x, but it doesn't even load Earthbound.

Super Star and Dreamland 3 are in the 5 fps range. Frame skip doesn't seem to be helping either. I'm going to toy around with it a bit more though.

I'm assuming you know how to enable USB mode. Place the Saved Data folder downloaded from where ever into the following directory: X (being your memory card): PSP - SAVED DATA

Simple as that! =O

Am I the only person here using M33 2.71-2 right now? There's no bios menu (from what I've researched), thus pressing R while resetting the PSP doesn't do anything. I'd really like to change the buttons around. Originally they were O = OK, X = Cancel, but after the firmware changed so did the buttons, and now O = Cancel and X = OK.

I thought m33 came out after 3.40... Unless he meant 3.71, you can still change the button confirm/cancel button through recovery.

Btw, is anyone still running their phat psp on 3.71?

Yes I meant 3.71-2. I didn't have the firmware put on by myself and there's no recovery menu in 3.71-2 M33; pressing R while turning the PSP off, then on, does nothing.

Oh no wonder. You're supposed to hold the on/off button so it can turn off completely, then you turn it back on while holding R. hold it til it takes you there.

Oh, my bad. Button crisis avoided. >_>

Also HOLY SHIT. I didn't know this thing could be switched from one firmware (3.71-2 M33) to 1.5. Though, what is the difference between the "NO UMD" drivers? These ones:

M33 driver -NO UMD-
Sony N9660 -NO UMD-
OE isofs legacy -NO UMD-
Normal -NO UMD-

It was originally on M33 driver, so in any case, I'll leave it alone.

My best recommendation is to leave it on 1.50. The problem is what I mentioned a few posts back that most emulators have annoying bugs. As for the drivers, you can access them on the regular psp menu by pressing select. HOME for 3.52 M33-4 or earlier m33 cfw users.

I switched back to 3.52 since I still like to play all my neo geo fighters in that version =]. Not only that, I need to get a new faceplate. Seems like my screws won't tighten any further when I opened it a year ago and the many times I had to open it just so I can remove a few dustballs that made my d-pad function weird. The analog nub is the real problem now. Any game that has analog compatability will move whatever you control on its own (Dracula X =/).

I hate to break it to you Elixir, but Superstar, EarthBound, and SMRPG are the top three games that usually don't work for snes9x for PSP OR PS2 (EarthBound usually running in the OK range, but not perfect)
