Mario Kart Arcade = Mario Kart Wii?
I just got to thinking. A Mario Kart game - whether announced at E3 or months on down the road - is inevitable. We know that one WILL come sooner or later, its just to be expected.
What I was thinking about though - does anyone remember the articles of the japanese arcade version of Mario Kart that was being collaborated on by Namco and Nintendo. I dunno if its out in arcades yet in Japan but if I remember correctly, Pac Man and Mrs. Pac Man were playable characters in thier own carts. Anyways - does anyone else think that this may end up becoming the future Mario Kart for the Wii much like Sega/Nintendo's F-Zero AX for the Arcade became F-Zero GX for the Gamecube? Just a thought. ![]() [ Lucio Morientes ]

The world needs more F-Zero AX. The only machine I've ever seen was on a cruise, and it broke the 2nd day into it :<
And I do remember hearing about the collab effort with Namco, although it'd probably fall under their "Triforce" arcade devision (Nintendo, Sega, Namco if I'm not mistaken). Haven't heard anything since the announcement though, so I don't know what to think as far as porting it to the Wii goes. |

I don't think they'll be the same. The Wii and an arcade machine are very, very different beasts.
That said, MarioKart Arcade, HOLY CRAP. END OF THE WORLD COMIN' ![]() [ Bernard "Owl" Schmidt ] |

I've played it. It's fun but not as fun as your usual Mario Kart. I'd say I was most amused with making funny faces for the camera than actually playing it which was mostly frustrating. Aiming was poor and control was jerky but that's probably due to the course I chose. Anyway I hope Nintendo comes up with something different and NOT double dash.

Unlike most Mario Kart games, Mario Kart GP kept my attention for more than two weeks. I like the track design alot, and it seems more colorful than the others in the series.
When Mario Kart hits the Wii, it'll be a different game. Doing an arcade port isn't an 'innovative way of gaming' after all. It wouldn't sell as much as a brand new one would. |
