Does this story have to start with the line, or does the line have to be incorporated into the story somewhere?

I'd assume just has to be somewhere. Since (without revealing specific details and keeping things vague) my prompt wouldn't exactly be the greatest introductory sentence.

2,500 was the limit, by my understanding, Alice.

It was never clearly established what no later than "midnight" meant. If a timezone was specificied, it would help ensure everyone actually makes this deadline. Any contest, regardless, should tell us timezone if they specify an absolute time of day that entries must be in. Dekoa, put the deadline with your timezone appended in the announcement thread to avoid the confusion when it will count.

Just so you guys know, no later than MIDNIGHT means no later than 12:00 AM EST. So, anyone living west of the EST time zones in America is pretty much screwed. So that means no procrastinating when it comes to submitting your writing. BE ON TIME EVERYONE.

Edit: What? You're pitting me against Crash? There's no way I'll advance to the next round!

Look, I know nobody wants to be paired against me. But my reputation is a bit exaggerated. Judging is blind, so it's by content alone, not name-based preconceptions of who's better.

It's very possible that the assigned topic could be something I have trouble working with. You never know. I'd prefer that you do your best and not give up before anything has even started.

I know that, I'll still do my best for this writing competition. Now, it's time to start to put this writing machine into action. Good luck to you and everyone participating.

Woah, hold up... we can't reveal our prompts? I'm glad I read this before I updated my journal, than, as I had been under the impression that community advice was allowed.

Community Advice is allowed when the product is finished. After the product is finished, submitted, and put up for display; people will be able to critique the work as well as say what could have been done better or worse in thier own opinion. Untill the VOTING is over though, there will be no revelation of the Topic. You'll be given the name Author A and Author B when people want to critique your work. As for the anouncements and stuff, I will post what you have requested into the Anouncements thread in the first post so everyone can read it.

BTW: When the voting is up, People can cross examine documents on this thread as well.

Wait a minute... is the prompt each round a universal one, or does each one get one of their own? I was originally under the impression that we all got the same one, but now it seems that everybody gets an individual prompt.

Just wanted to know, because that could have a HUEG impact on how I write mine.
I've been working like a dog all my life and I can't get a penny ahead.

I'm really excited about this. I waited until today (monday) to get started, to be fair.

What's the policy on getting editing from other GFFers? Is it alright as long as it's done in private, and the "infected" member doesn't vote in that specific pairing?

Well, I don't plan on showing my writing to other GFFers, but I think it's fair to allow non-members to aid you.

Non-members are ok to see your work, I won't allow people to show it to any other GFF member, they will be able to wait until the actual product comes out.

Also, Yes, Everyone matchup has a different theme. It is not a universal theme. So that means that there are 12 different themes out right now.

I just want to say that 2,500 words is a lot of freaking words. I've been writing for WELL over 2 hours and I only have 1,300 so far. =/

One last thing Before I pretty much stop posting for tonight, If you wish to send me a rough draft, I don't know if I'll be able to do that much grammer checking, but I can give you a very unbiased opinion based on your work. Who knows, it might even end up in the hands of my Chuck Norris looking English Teacher.

I... don't know if I'll make it! ;_;

Goddamn school work is draining me for time, and draining my creativity and will to write. I might be able to pull some all-nighters to write this since I have no time during the day it seems. Argh, this blows.

HAHAHAHA SUCKERS! I submitted mine yesterday.

I'm not entirely sure it's what Dekoa had in mind, but it's the best I could do with my prompt and I'm pretty pleased with it.
