Ask Zerg. For a while he was running the vote tallys and everything.

A while ago I said I wasn't sure if I'd mod the next game. Now I know I certainly won't. For one, I just can't make the things I had planned work. More importantly, I have other things to do.

If no one else has any plans, I could run the next game. I've been tossing an idea around for the past few days, going back and forth on whether it was stupid/far-fetched or a workable idea. If I actually commit, then I'll be able to justify fleshing out the idea further, and coming up with a few new additions (I work better under deadline). Here's what I've got so far, which will obviously be better written for the game:

A man (we'll call him Bob for now) fulfills his lifelong dream of opening a restaurant in a small town. He's been warned that Conglomo Corp has a monopoly on all the fast food restaurants in town, and they're not too keen on competition. Additionally, there's a crazy old lady that runs a gumbo stand, and she's willing to do anything to get rid of the new restaurant. Undaunted, Bob hires lots of new employees to staff his new business, fully aware that some of them are spies sent by the competition to sabotage him. With any luck, Bob will be able to sort out the saboteurs before they can put him out of business. Flimsy premise? Sure, but writing stories wouldn't be too hard.

Roles
  • Masons=Restaurant employees: I'd like to give them some kind of power/something to do, but I'm still working on that.
  • Seer/Fool=(?): Bob would pay these folks a few dollars extra to review security tapes (i.e., checks). Fools would be drunk while doing it, unfortunately.
  • Vigilante=Secret Shoppers: These people don't tolerate poor customer service, and will eliminate any who fail to perform their duties adequately.
  • Hunter=(?): These employees are dedicated to their jobs, and see it as their sworn duty to sacrifice their lives for the good of restaurant name.
  • Lucky Stiff: The usual.
  • Shaman=(?): Somehow protect their fellow employees (haven't worked out a non-supernatural explanation yet).
  • Werewolf=Conglomo Corp: These are employees of other restaurants (Taco Bell, Burger King, etc., for easy writing ideas) that are working undercover at restaurant name to try to shut it down.
  • Mafia=Voodoo Masters: These folks work down at the gumbo shack and use supernatural powers to curse all that stand in their way.
  • Spy=High Priestess: She uses her witchery to divine the roles of other players.

Modifications
  • Each player "lynched" during the day will be "fired" for story purposes. Since they're not dead, these disgruntled ex-employees will begin to picket in front of the store, and at the end of each day, they'll get to pick one living player and kill them. Similar to the Zombie idea from Crash's island game, but the death occurs during the day, and the "zombies" are only made up of lynched players.
  • I want to give my Smart Vigilante mod another try. Vigilantes will receive random intel from one Seer/Fool each night. They'll have no idea whether the information is trustworthy or not, but at least it will give them a better idea of who to watch in the game.
  • Note that the Werewolves/Conglomo Corp have no seer. My plan is to make them a smaller group than the Voodoos, but to give them a special power in exchange. One time only, they may convert any other player in the game to join their cause. If they pick the right player, it could give them a wealth of knowledge, as well as a possible mole in another group.

I'm sure there would be other roles and ideas thrown in, but this is what I've got so far. What do you guys think?

May I suggest "Union Leader" for the Shaman role?

That could work, although it would be more logical for a Union Leader to protect someone from being fired, not from being dunked in boiling fryer grease. Still, given the absurd comic tone I tend to use in my writing, it really doesn't matter.

I suggest the Masons (Restaurant Employees) have the power of food poisoning, meaning they can poison one player each night and that player's lynch votes don't count. It gives the Masons something to do at night, and isn't as obvious as letting them have "double" votes during the day.

Hunters could be Restaurant Managers (just for sake of role names).

Seers/Fools would be Health Inspectors.

I've kinda been thinking about finally running one, but it probably wouldn't be wise until the semester ends in early December. I'll just put my name out there for Werewolf XX(X?) for now.

So now that GFF is finally back up and running, is anyone interested in running the next game? No one really threw their hat in the ring after the last game ended, so hopefully this month of downtime has produced someone willing to step up to the plate.

If no one really wants to do it, I have another idea ready, but like I said at the end of the last game, I'd prefer to play again before I mod again. I mainly just wanted to bump this thread to see if anyone was interested, because I'm itching for some Werewolf action.

I'd quite like to do another basically normal game of Werewolf. Different ideas are nice and all and can be fun but you can't really beat a straight up game with two teams and tried and tested rules and roles.

Sadly, there's no way I've got the time to run one myself, making this a slightly unhelpful comment in all.

I am interested in running a werewolf game, and am currently soliciting feedback for some ideas I would like to try.

Rather than diligently studying for my upcoming finals, I've been working on a superhero themed Werewolf game.

The basic premise:

Each non-Mason, non-Mafia role has an ability that is unique to their superpower in addition to the normal Werewolf-based role. The abilities are fairly minor and won’t outright break the game. Besides, giving a large, unique role to almost every person in the game would be far beyond my ability as a moderator. However, none of the superheroes’ or supervillains’ identities or abilities are revealed at the beginning of the game.

For example, say Plarom is a Shaman, but his associated superhero moniker is Protect-O. His Shaman role would be counted towards the role tally, but nobody outside of the Masons, Mafia, or Plarom himself would know that there was a superhero named Protect-O or what Plarom’s secondary ability would be.

The Masons (Citizens) know the identities of every superhero and supervillain dwelling in the town, but not their abilities or secret identities. Every night, the Citizens can pit a superhero and a supervillain against each other and reveal each of their superpowers by the start of the next day. No secret identities (i.e. Plarom was a Shaman) will be revealed, so that doesn’t guarantee a lynching target every day.

The Werewolves (Convocation of Criminals) want to rule the U.S.I.C. with an iron fist, and what better way than with brute force and murder? Every night, the Convocation will be entitled to a kill along with the Devil’s check. Of course, being supervillains and all, there are some extra abilities that they are entitled to.

The Mafia (Agents) are also entitled to a nightly kill and check, but they can’t kill ordinary citizens. Their specialized weaponry can only take out the superpowerful because the Convocation were too cheap to buy the Agents’ “Civilian Slaughter” package. The Mafia lack superpowers, so they don’t have any other abilities beyond what’s stated here, but they do have a master list of all of the superpowerful players’ identities and their respective superpowers. The Agents don’t know of their secret identities, so they don’t already have everyone’s respective roles available from the get-go.

Any questions or constructive criticism would be appreciated. This is a very rough draft.

I must admit it sounds a bit complicated, but I definitely dig the concept. I'll probably understand it once I read over your post again, though. This definitely sounds like it has the potential to be awesome, so hopefully you'll be able to complete it soon.

So basically you have two classes of kills, one which targets only superheroes, and another that targets everyone?

Why not have a Good Gang of superheroes oppose the Convocation of Criminals, while the Mafia tries to kill non-supers? Basically Good and Good vs. Evil and Evil...
