So I watched that show Flashpoint on CBS tonight. Never heard of it? Yeah, neither had I until like two days ago. I saw a commercial for it, and it looked alright, so I decided to check it out. It was actually pretty good, though nothing spectacular. Seriously though, if you look at all the factors (premiering in the middle of the summer, on a Friday no less), there's no reason to look forward to this show's future.
So basically this show is kinda like The Unit but with less hush hush shit and the Pink Ranger. If you need some scripted entertainment for the summer you could certainly do worse, but like I said, I don't actually expect this one to last long.
So in other news, as per my previous journal entry, I started watching My Name is Earl. I wasn't immediately hooked on it, but I can say I'm a fan now. I'm stll not gonna rush out and but the other seasons on DVD, but I'll certainly catch them is they're ever on sale.
The one thing about this show that I can't connect with is the fact that it comes on NBC. Not really a problem for me since I'm watching it on DVD, but it still just doesn't seem like the right fit. I read that the show was originally pitched to FOX, and I can certainly see that being a better fit. I don't know, I guess I'm just pretty disconnected to sitcoms on NBC (the only ones I can honestly remember watching are the really old ones, like Fresh Prince and Blossom  ).
But yeah, the most impressive part of the show is definitely its casting. Not only is the main cast pretty impressive, but so are a lot of the guest stars as well. I can't even count how many people I've recognized from other shows so far.
So since this was an alright little experiment, I'll probably be doing another TV DVD Showdown sometime soon. Don't know what category of shows I'll be doing, but I'll try to mix it up (I'm leaning towards either dramas, dramedies, or animation).
Oh, and for anyone who's actually noticed my absence of late, it's mainly because I don't have my laptop (don't ask how, but I somehow broke the screen), but the other day I was without the internet as well. I'm not exactly sure when I'll get my laptop back, but I'll still be around enough to check on any forum happenings (i.e. Werewolf).
